Product Description

The Cateye Padrone Smart Plus cycling computer incorporates the same features as the standard Smart with the additional benefits of a backlight, sound, altimeter and customisable display.

This bike computer works either with a Speed/Cadence sensor or directly with your Smart device using Bluetooth logging your ride data so it’s easily uploadable to your Strava account.

A large screen on the Padrone makes visibility whilst riding simple to really get the most out of your ride and using your phone GPS data will provide assent/decent information. Avoid draining your smart phone battery and ride smarter with this new edition to the range of computers.

Track rides in Mirror Mode using your phone's GPS or use directly with Bluetooth® Smart sensors. In either mode, quickly and easily upload ride data to CatEyeAtlasTM, StravaTM and TrainingPeaksTM when the ride is done. Useless

I purchased this computer along with a speed/cadence sensor. I'm pretty tech savvy but the online instructions it comes with are pretty impenetrable. I finally got everything setup tried it out on a couple of short rides in direct mode and discovered you cannot reset the odometer, so impossible to record trip distance! Tried it in mirror mode connected to phone - the computer gives a different readout to the phone for the same ride, current speed is all over the place (anything from 4-25mph at a steady 20mph, so average speed calculates incorrectly. The Cateye app lets you upload to Srava but when you do the Strava trip gives completely different results for example average speed and altitude different by up to 20%! In summary, as a cycle computer to accurately record your rides it is not fit for purpose and is on it's way back to Tredz this week. I really wanted this to work but sorry guys it doesn't!

Expensive but poor

I purchased this product yesterday as the guy at Cardiff Tredz stated it was the all signing, dancing for the price. Truth be it, it's not and the instructions are in foreign language and product does not work unless you have the phone whilst riding out and on time loses Bluetooth connection. Cadence is not recorded meaning you have to purchase sensors (again informed I wouldn't) like wise heart rate monitor (that was the obvious one) strongly advise paying for a lessor spec model and buying the extra bits which equates to the price of this model alone or will save you money at least.

Can I pair my cycle computer with a smartphone, power meter and other devices?

You will need a wireless computer to sync with other devices. Most wireless computers sync using 2 wireless technologies – ANT+ & Bluetooth Smart.

ANT+

ANT+ enabled devices to talk to each other and present the information on a compatible device.

Bluetooth Smart

Bluetooth Smart is a low energy wireless technology designed for smart sport and fitness. The long battery life in sensors makes it ideal for regular use in cycling.

Always check your smartphone’s OS and 3rd party devices are compatible.

Would a Watch / Fitness band be better for me?

If you’re looking for something more versatile then cycle watches are a great alternative. You can still gather data from cycling sensors, but you can also gather data for different sports too. They are great for triathletes and those that do multiple sports.

You can easily transfer data from a road bike to a mountain bike, from running to swimming. There aren’t many outdoor exercises you can’t track.

What software & Apps should I use?

Strava

Strava is perhaps the most well-known cycling App / software around. All you need is to record your cycling with a compatible GPS device, upload it to Strava and then you can analyse your data. You can compare your performance to previous efforts, your mates and even pro riders - all of this, for free.

Garmin Connect

All Garmin computers and devices will work with Garmin Connect. This is an online service that allows you to analyse your performance data, and share it with your friends. Reports show you how you’re progressing and you can use the calendar feature to plan your training sessions over time.
