Product Description

One of the most popular rear lights is Cateye’s TL-LD610, and it’s easy to see why.  There are five very bright LED’s facing straight outward (powered by two AAA batteries), it has doubled the run time of the previous TL-600 model and is extremely water resistant.

When you’re riding throughout winter, you can take it for granted how exposed bike lights are.  The TL-600 is very water resistant, and comes in a sturdy shell.  This shell is easily attached to the frame thanks to the Flex Tight Bracket, which allows you to fix the light to practically any sized handlebar.

Coming in at just 60 grams and compact 10.4 x 3.6 x 2.2cm dimensions, the Cateye TL-600 is ideal for commuting on poorly lit urban roads.  You can also use variable light settings between the five LED’s to make your presence clearer.  As rear lights go, this is very bright.

Features

    • Modes: 2

    • Run Time: 30-60 hours

    • Batteries Included: Yes

    • Double the runtime than TL-600

    • Narrower size (but more visible because the LEDs have moved further outwards)

    • Easy access switch

Waste of money

Have used this light on about 5 occasions on my road bike. However after using it in the rain the switch (which is poorly designed and difficult to use) no longer works. Complete waste of money, avoid this rubbish!

Bright and big

Was easy to fit to bike and looks like it will be secure. So far it looks to be a big bright light which will be clearly seen by all. I recommend this light.

Good but not the best

Lightweight and compact with good visibility and 4 modes. Have seen other rear lights though in the same price range with better features which means this is only 4 stars.

Rear Lights Buying Guide

Rear Lights Buying Guide

While front lights can reach up to and above 1000 Lumens, at the rear anything from 20 to 100 lumens is plenty. Multiple rear lights are the best way to be seen from behind, especially when on the flash mode.

With one attached to the seatpost it can be good to have another on the chainstay, backpack or helmet. 20 Lumen would be sufficient for commuting in urban areas. For those living in darker areas or riding on dimly lit roads, a rear light closer to 100 lumens would be best.

Take a look at our Rear light comparison tool to help you choose the right bike light for your needs.

Wearable lights

Extra visibility

If you commute on lit-up city streets, rear lights are more than essential. To have a second light high up and in the eye-line of drivers and other road users is a very good idea. With reflective clothing and/or accessories like backpack covers and jackets, adding a wearable rear light will really make you stand out. Most backpacks will have a loop or somewhere to secure a light, using the strap or mount that come with the light.

Usually not a concern for MTB riders, nothing extravagant is needed for the rear, just so the rider can be seen on any road or path that might lead to the trail.
