3 tubes gone in 120 miles!!!!

Ok, some context. I ride about 5000 miles a year, all road. I figured this would be a good way to save 150 g on the bike, three tubes with a 50 saving each. Changed them for the Wales Velothon. first one punctures after 30 miles, second at 45 miles, the third punctured today after 120 miles! Front and rear wheel affected, new Gp4000s tyres, so unlikely to be them. Never had issues like this with standard tubes, two years since my previous puncture. I can only conclude they are too fragile to bother with. £30 for the three down the drain, not worth it.
