The Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT 400X takes a lightweight approach to e-bike touring. Rather than combining a high-capacity battery and full-power motor with a heavier chassis, Cube uses its C:62 carbon construction, Bosch's compact SX drive system and carbon components to create a lighter setup for commuting, touring and longer leisure rides.
The C:62 frame uses Cube's Advanced Twin Mold manufacturing process to control the carbon lay-up and resin distribution during production. Efficient Comfort Geometry is designed around longer rides, balancing a comfortable riding position with the handling needed for everyday journeys and touring.
A fixed 400Wh CompactTube battery is integrated into the frame, helping Cube maintain its clean shape. Advanced Internal Cable Routing takes the cables through the frame for an equally tidy finish, while Boost axle spacing front and rear provides a secure wheel connection. A UDH derailleur hanger also simplifies sourcing a compatible replacement if required.
Unlike many trekking e-bikes, the Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT uses a rigid Cube C:62 carbon fork rather than suspension. This saves weight and gives the front end a direct feel, while carbon construction can help filter some road vibration. An internal light cable option allows compatible lighting to be neatly integrated.
Bosch's Performance Line SX is a compact, lightweight drive unit delivering up to 60Nm of torque. It provides assistance when climbing or covering longer distances without the weight associated with Bosch's more powerful full-size drive units, complementing the lightweight focus of the Kathmandu C:62 platform.
Power comes from a Bosch CompactTube 400Wh battery. Its relatively compact capacity helps keep weight down, making the bike easier to handle both while riding and when assistance isn't required. The Bosch Kiox 500 provides ride and assistance information through a large handlebar-mounted display.
Shimano XT Di2 brings electronic shifting to the 1x12-speed drivetrain. The RD-M8260-SGS rear derailleur and SW-M8250-IR shifter provide electronically controlled gear changes, while the wide-ranging 10-51t XT cassette gives plenty of lower gearing for climbs and carrying luggage. A 38t carbon ACID crankset completes the setup.
Shimano XT M8100 hydraulic disc brakes use 180mm rotors front and rear. They provide progressive braking control for managing speed on descents and when the bike is loaded, with hydraulic operation helping maintain consistent performance in changing weather.
Newmen Phase 30 carbon wheels further contribute to the bike's lightweight build. They're tubeless ready and use Boost 15x110mm front and 12x148mm rear spacing. The wheels are paired with 50mm Schwalbe G-One Overland tyres, providing additional volume for comfort while using a tread intended for a mixture of tarmac and unsurfaced routes.
A Newmen Advanced carbon seatpost adds another lightweight component to the build and can provide some additional compliance over rougher surfaces. It's paired with an ACID Sequence 180 saddle and Cube's 700mm Comfort Trail handlebar to support the bike's longer-distance focus.
Practicality remains central to the Kathmandu despite its lighter construction. Cube's Integrated Carrier 3.0 forms part of the frame structure, providing a sturdy platform for carrying compatible luggage without relying on a conventional bolt-on rack. The manufacturer also specifies a full complement of touring accessories, making the bike suitable for regular transport as well as recreational riding.
By combining a 400Wh battery and 60Nm Bosch SX motor with a carbon frame, fork and wheels, the Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT 400X prioritises lower weight and natural handling over maximum battery capacity or motor torque. That makes it particularly appealing for riders who want electric assistance for commuting and touring without the heavier feel of a conventional full-power trekking e-bike.
