Security marking

Cheaper than buying it direct from the manufacturer. Contains three methods of marking your bike which should deter thieves. BTW there are four stencils for etching the frame and any other valuable components as well as the data dots for marking smaller parts.

Do not use on matt finish

Used before on gloss and worked well. This time on a stealth matte finish it's totally visible and looks awful. Worse still I split some and its invisible when being applied then it turned blue. They say daylight will over a few weeks turn it invisible but as yet it's still blue after a week and the code is totally visible

Hope I never Find Out If It Works

It's one of those things like insurance - you hope you never have to use it. Not difficult to do the main marking - reasonably good instructions - but the micro dots are a bit naff.: a blob of glue with some black bits in. The glue shows when dry and I can't tell if I've got any dots in the blob or not.

Bike Locks Guide

What is a bike lock?

A bike lock is a security device for your bike which will deter thieves and keep your bike in your possession and not theirs. Bike locks are vital not just on the move but also at home to give you peace of mind.

Who needs a bike lock?

If you ever leave your bike unattended while you’re on a ride, a lock can mean that your bike is still there when you return from that quick shop stop or comfort break. If you have insured your bike, there are often requirements on the type of lock you’ll need in order to make a claim, so it’s worth checking this information.

What are the choices?

There are all kinds of locks to choose from. Sturdy D-locks  and chunky chain locks may be heavy but they are harder to cut through. Lighter weight cable locks are great for securing components with quick release skewers. Ground anchors are concreted or bolted into the ground making them an ideal home-based security measure.

What should I buy with it?

Bike security markings are a great idea, as they could help to identify it if it unfortunately gets stolen. Lock spares are available so you can replace anything from a shackle to a bracket.

Anything else?

We recommend you spent at least 10% of the value of your bike on a lock - with bike crime always on the rise, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
