Enve M685 Fat Bike Rim
The ENVE M685 Fat Bike Rim is designed to improve the fat bike ride experience with a low-weight, high-strength, crud-shredding design that's just as at home on the trails as chugging through wet dirt or tearing up the tundra.
Part of the M6 range of mountain bike wheels, the M685 is handmade from uni-directional carbon fibre and features an 85mm internal width and 26" or 27.5 size options to take your choice of high-volume, tubeless fat tyres.
But this isn't just a wider version of ENVE's other M6 rims, the M685 has been designed from the ground up to enhance fat bike riding. Compared to most fat bike rims, ENVE has given the M685 a deeper cross section and steeper sidewall angles to better shed mud and snow, which keeps weight low whatever terrain you're tackling.
However, the M685 does share the Wide Hookless Bead of the other M6 rims, a patented design for the rim's teardrop-shaped leading edge. When combined with the rim's overall cross section, the design helps dissipate impact force and reduces the chance of pinch flats by over 50%.
In a first for ENVE, the M685 features asymmetric moulded spoke holes designed to accommodate the wide bracing angle created by fat bike hub spacing. This ensures the spokes remain properly aligned and as far from deep terrain as possible, again helping to avoid the wheel weighing you down by holding on to excess mud or snow.
Weighing in at an impressive 600g, the M685 achieves the perfect balance of traction, weight and mountain bike durability for 3.8-4.5” tyres, meaning you can ride your fat bike with no limitations.
