Sizing

Since hand sizes vary from person to person, the GP Series and GS Series grips are offered in two sizes; Small and Large.

These sizes refer to the gripping circumference. The Large size is a thicker grip, and the Small is a thinner grip. Two size options offer better hand closure around the grip surface. These size differences have a direct impact on the overall handling of the bike, as well as comfort.

  • Small - 6.5"-8.5"  (XS-L), 92mm hand circumference
  •  Large - Glove Size: 8.5" -10.5" (XL-XXL), 102mm hand circumference

Sturdy and pain-stopping

I have a nippy, flatbar hybrid with 28c tyres for commuting, so lots of vibration, numb fingers and sore wrists after longer leisure rides. These are pricier than I had wanted to pay but are much more solid under the hand than cheaper grips I've seen and they have stopped the numbness - along with a tiny saddle adjustment the bike now rides much better. If you've never used bar ends, you'll need to move your shifters/brakes inboard a centimeter or two. And slide the end stops into their grip slot before you tighten the collar otherwise they won't fit properly. Large size should be good for most male hands. The only thing that stopped five stars, however, was small rubber blemish on the tip of each bar end.

Recommended.

As i suffer from pain in my wrists and hands/palms i find these have been excellent in alleviating that problem. Plus the extra grip/support and positions are a great help.

Ergon GP3 Grips

I have used these now for a short while and can honestly say that they have made a big difference to the comfort of my ride. Using the different positions have helped with how my fingers feel, now I have no numbness at all. The quality of the grips are first class and I would highly recommend these to any rider that has problems with numb finger when riding.

Just what I needed

I ordered these in small, according to some research they are suitable for hand/glove size up to 8. They look perfect, only slightly bigger then the originals supplied on my BMC AC01 alfine 8. I wanted to upgrade to have the bar ends which these grips offered. The support of the grips are excellent, slightly more grip then my originals with the added benefit of the bar ends. Easy to fit and totally adjustable until you tighten the locking hex. Recommended if this is what you need, I'm sure their the best out there.

Good bit of kit.

Had these grips for two months now. Ridden about 750 miles. They really do make a difference. Much more comfortable than standard grips, giving many more options for hand position.Easy to fit and fine tune. Bit pricey but well made, look good and built to last. Recommended.

Ergon GR2 Grips

Replacement for grips that came with our Bianchi Cameleonti that were damaged in an accident. Arrived promptly from Tredz, were straightforward to fit - clear instructions and they slipped on without a problem. In use they are very comfortable, although it is still early days.

ERGON GR2 grips

I fitted a pair of these to my Dahon folding bike. The main grip provides excellent palm support and the bar end extensions are long enough to be really useful for hill climbing or headwinds etc while still being short enough not to interfere with the folding procedure. On my full size bikes I have fitted the Ergons with longer bar ends but they are slightly heavier so the GR2s are a good lightweight choice for any bike.

Grips & Bar Tape Guide

What are grips and bar tape?

Grips and bar tape form the padding you rest your hands on when you cycle.

Who needs grips and bar tape?

Grips and bar tape don’t last forever. They’re a bike consumable that you will need to replace when it gets too worn.

What are the choices?

If your bike has flat handlebars, you need grips, if you ride drop bars you need bar tape. Beyond this, there’s a bewildering array of materials, textures and colours to choose from, all promoting different comfort and performance properties.

What should I buy with them?

Grips are only one half of the cycling hand comfort equation. Pamper your palms properly and add a decent pair of cycling gloves as well.

Anything else?

Grips and bar tape aren’t just about comfort – there are so many fantastic colours and designs to choose from, it’s a great way to add a splash of your personality to your bike.
