The Ghost E-ASX Essential is a full-suspension electric mountain bike designed to balance climbing support with confident handling on technical trails. Its aluminium frame neatly integrates the Bosch drive system and 600Wh PowerTube battery, while 160mm of front suspension gives you plenty of capability for rougher terrain and demanding descents.
Power comes from the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, providing responsive pedal assistance for steep climbs and longer days on the trails. Paired with the integrated 600Wh PowerTube battery, the system gives the E-ASX the support needed for exploring further and tackling routes with plenty of climbing. The supplied specification doesn't state the motor's maximum torque, so we've left this figure unspecified rather than assuming the output.
A Bosch Kiox 300 display provides easy access to ride and system information, while the separate LED Remote lets you control assistance without having to take your hand away from the grip.
Up front, the RockShox Psylo Silver RC fork provides 160mm of travel and uses a Solo Air spring, making spring pressure easy to adjust to suit rider weight and preference. The RC damper provides control over the fork's behaviour, helping manage the suspension across changing trail conditions.
At the rear, a RockShox Deluxe Select R shock uses a DebonAir+ air spring to complement the long-travel front end. Together, the RockShox suspension helps maintain grip and control over roots, rocks and rougher sections of trail while providing support for bigger impacts.
The mixed wheel setup is designed to combine the rollover ability and stability of a larger front wheel with the more agile feel and extra clearance of a smaller rear wheel. This helps the E-ASX feel composed on steeper descents without sacrificing manoeuvrability through tighter sections of trail.
Continental Xynotal Trail Endurance tyres provide a trail-focused tread pattern for grip and predictable handling across varied off-road surfaces. They're fitted to XLC WR-M39 rims with a 30mm internal width, giving the tyres a supportive platform for trail riding.
Shimano CUES components provide a straightforward drivetrain designed with durability in mind. The CUES RD-U6000 Shadow+ rear derailleur helps control chain movement over rough ground, while Rapidfire+ shifting makes it easy to move through the gears. The CS-LG300 cassette and CN-LG500 LINKGLIDE chain are designed to cope with the increased loads associated with e-bike riding.
Although the specification lists the bike as 12-speed, the supplied CUES SL-U6000-10R shifter and CS-LG300-10 cassette identify this as a 10-speed drivetrain, so we've used the component specifications here.
Tektro HD-M535 hydraulic disc brakes use four-piston callipers with large 203mm rotors front and rear. This combination provides the braking power and control needed to manage the additional weight and speed of a full-suspension e-MTB, particularly on longer or steeper descents.
An XLC dropper post lets you lower the saddle from the handlebar when descending, giving you more room to move around the bike. The supplied specification lists up to 200mm of drop, helping you get the saddle well out of the way on steeper and more technical terrain.
The Ghost E-ASX Essential brings together Bosch assistance, long-travel RockShox suspension and trail-focused components in a versatile aluminium e-MTB. It's a good match for riders looking to tackle technical trails, demanding climbs and longer off-road rides without stepping into an overly specialised setup.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimeters for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but is like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the e mountain bike column.
