Product Description

Seating tubeless tyres correctly requires an instant high volume shot of air. Control Tank is pumped up using a conventional track pump (with a pressure release valve to prevent over filling) before delivering 1450cc of air instantly to seat a tubeless tyre on the rim, before switching back to the conventional pump to reach the precise desired pressure. Control Tanks Auto Head valve automatically switches between Presta and Schrader for road and mountain bike use, two tough feet provide a stable base and the steel tank construction offers long lasting service.

  • Material: Steel tank
  • Tank volume: 1450cc
  • Gauge: No gauge, pressure release switch
  • Base: Two tough plastic feet
  • Valve: Auto Head - Presta and Schrader
  • Handle: Easy carry handle
  • Features: Instant 1-shot air release for seating tubeless tyres
  • Inflates using Schrader valve

Note: Occasionally, without notice, manufacturers change product design and/or specifications.

Poor first encounter

My first attempt to use this pump has been a big disapointment. There are no instructions (apart from "air in here") and when you pump you realise there is an isolating valve between the tank and the pump and no pressure gauge on the tank so how on earth do you know what pressure you have reached. I have had to Google this product to learn that there is an excess pressure relief valve so it seems you have to keep pumping till the value leases. Pretty rubbish so far.

Excellent

It says on the label that operating pressure is 160-180psi. My basic track pump has a max pressure of 140psi, so I wasn't optimistic. I've used it twice so far and it works perfectly at 140psi - very satisfying to use and quite good fun - easier in some ways than messing around with tubes. Excellent product - highly recommended.

It works.

Solid piece of kit, only used it once so far but it put blew up a Hanz Damph on my converted to tubeless Giant 29er back wheel first go.

Good but could be better

This is a hefty lump of a tank, so won't be carrying it about with you, but it's build quality is good. The only problem with it is that it somehow restricts the airflow when you release the lever, so more often than not it will not seat the beads even at 160psi, so you WILL need to remove the valve core every time, plus getting it to 160psi is fairly easy but doing it 3-4 times when it fails to seat is a pain, If I had the choice I'd send it back and try a different brand.

Just works.

Struggled to pressurise it beyond 120PSI with my track pump (foot pump would have been easier), but it inflated my 2.5 Maxxis Minion DHF DD’s first time of asking without having to remove the valve core. Very impressed. Build quality is very good. It’s quite big. Should’ve bought one much much sooner. Tubeless tyre conversions have never been easier.

Bike Pumps Guide

What are bike pumps?

A bike pump is essential for keeping your tyres inflated, preventing pesky pinch punctures and providing more efficient riding. Tyres gradually deflate even if your bike stays inactive for a while, so it’s good practice to top them up as often as you can.

Who needs a bike pump?

Anyone with a bike. A mini pump or CO2 cannister can be vital in getting you home after a puncture, or to work on time if you’re commuting.

What are the choices?

Traditional pumps are easy to use and inexpensive to buy. A hand pump is operated with a pumping action and is available in standard or mini size. Both types can be fitted to eyelets in your bike frame or smaller pumps will fit in a saddle bag. Track or floor pumps are great for the garage – inflating high psi levels in just a couple of movements. CO2 cannister instantly release air into your tyres and are diminutive in size.

What should I buy with it?

If your pump isn’t compatible the valve on your tyre (Presta or Schrader) you may need to buy an adaptor. CO2 cartridges require a small adaptor for use.

Anything else?

A gauge is a good way of seeing how much air you’ve added, preventing the dreaded pop sound from an overambitious inflation. Also, NEVER take CO2 cartridges with you on an aeroplane!
