Product Description

Bike bells generally look & sound a bit ugly. But why? What if they looked sexy & sounded like an angel playing a glockenspiel?

The bells fit on almost all cylindrical bars. The Small Oi is best for the common 22.2mm bar, and with the "spacers" that come in the pack, the Large Oi is for all bar sizes up to 31.8mm. The Oi will also work on any aero bar with a 16mm cylindrical section (usually near the stem).

Key Features:

SIZE: Small bell fits bars 22.2mm diameter // Large bell fits bars 23.8mm - 31.8mm (How to measure your handlebars).

WEIGHT: Small 18g // Large 28g

MATERIALS: Aluminium with Nylon mount & acctuator

BIKE ATTACHMENT: Nylon clamp with hex screw to secure bell to your bike. What about getting it on the bar? Just pop it over, give it a quick tighten up, and you're good to go. No sliding down the handlebars, no dismantling and re-assembling.

STYLES: Brushed Aluminium, Black, Brass, Copper

CABLE MANAGEMENT: Built into the shape of the Oi mount is a cable management system. So not only does it allow the bell to look and sound uninterrupted, it also helps gather your cables (for the organiser inside us all)

Rubbish !!

Bought this type of bell as i wanted something discreet but fit for purpose. Only had it for a couple of months and already one of the vertical guides that holds the hammer in place has broken off. The sound is too quiet and any other noises , traffic / wind etc drowns out the effect. I'm sure there is better and cheaper alternatives.

Stylish and discreet bell

I like this bell, not the loudest but works well enough and is discrete and sleek on the bike. It was easy to fit and I had to use the extra plastic insert for a tight fit on a narrower handlebar.

bought this bell hoping it would be a step up from the cheaper ones, but the sound is far too quiet even away from traffic noise, very dissapointed

Nice Bell

Pretty box it comes in it does. Beautiful fit ( to 22mm ). But...not a vocal as one would wish. It'll be just the job for me but it would, as has been said elsewhere, rubbish on a busy street and pants for alerting drivers...in fact forget it for that...Full Not! Very handsome and slim on your bars...but only reckon it for canal towpath and other cycle ways etc.

Took much longer to fit than I expected.

I measured the bars on my two mountain bikes with a vernier caliper so I would get the correct size, the large ones, which would fit easily. The bells come with a strip of rubber which sticks around the handlebar plus a secret plastic ring (hidden in the underneath side of the packaging) which I didn't find at first. No combination of these two packings was any good for fitting the bells as they were either too thick or too thin for both bikes, which have slightly different diameter bars. So I resorted to finding bits of rubber strip in my workshop and cut them to different lengths in order to be able to screw the clamp together sufficiently to tighten it. Maybe I was just unlucky with the diameter of my bars but there was a lot of unnecessary messing about to get them fitted. Maybe, taking the price into account, Knog should make them in a few more sizes...as for quality, time will tell, but they look a bit frail and would not survive much banging about, considering the little springs that the ringers sit on, but at least they look nice! ;-)

So so, not the best

Bought two of these. The small one on the MTB is good and makes a loud enough sound so was happy with it. The spring that holds the hammer in place weakened and bent. still works but not as well as initially. The large one I bought for the road bike is worse. Even though the sound is much better, louder, the spring bent after a week of light use. They are way better products out there too bad none of them is as neat as these.

Attractive bell but very quiet

The bell looks attractive and is easy to fit, but I have found that compared to my previous bell it is very quiet. I cycle along a lot of shared footpath/cycle routes, people do not seem to hear the bell and don't move out of the way.

Good looks and sounds good

Great looking modern bell, with good tone. More plastic than expected but pleased none the less. Very easy to fit.

Well thought out product

Was looking for a bell after a near miss with someone stepping into the road. Wasn't too keen on the conventional bells so bought this. Purchased the large version in black for road bike handlebars. The bell is discreet and makes a good sound that travels well. They have even thought of spaces in the bracket that fit nicely around your cables. It's a fair bit more expensive than a normal bell but the build quality seems good. Only thing I would say against the product is the fancy packaging, which seems unnecessary and probably just adds to the cost.

Bells & Horns Guide

What are bike bells and horns?

Bells and horns are a great way of alerting other road or path users to your presence. They are easy to attach to your handlebars and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and loudness options.

Who needs a bells or horn?

If you regularly cycle on paths designed for bikes and pedestrians, bells and horns are a must-have for alerting people to your presence.

What are the choices?

There are a variety of bells and horns to choose from, varying in budget and volume. Choose one that’s easy to operate when wearing gloves and one that’s unlikely to rust quickly.

What should I buy with them?

Other accessories for your handlebars include lights and cycle computers – why not create yourself a mini control panel of useful devices?

Anything else?

Why can’t an elephant ride a bicycle? Because he doesn’t have a thumb to ring the bell.
