The Liv Intrigue X 2 is a mid-travel trail bike designed to balance climbing efficiency with confident handling when the trail becomes steeper and more technical. Its ALUXX SL-grade aluminium frame combines 140mm of Maestro rear suspension with a 150mm fork, creating a versatile platform for everything from flowing singletrack to rougher descents.
Liv's Maestro suspension uses a dual-link design to control the rear wheel throughout its travel. The 140mm system is paired with a Fox Float Performance shock that's custom tuned for Liv, with 30% sag recommended as the starting point for suspension setup.
Up front, the Fox 36 Float Rhythm provides 150mm of travel. Its GRIP damper controls compression and rebound, while the 36mm chassis provides the support expected from a longer-travel trail fork. A Boost 15x110mm Kabolt X thru-axle keeps the front wheel securely located.
One of the Intrigue X's standout features is how much adjustment the frame offers. The Maestro 3 flip chip allows the head tube angle, seat tube angle and bottom bracket height to be changed, letting you fine-tune the bike's geometry to suit different trails and riding preferences.
A separate headset flip chip adds another dimension to the setup. It provides short, mid and long reach positions, allowing the cockpit and riding position to be adjusted without changing the stem or frame size.
Wheel configuration is also tailored to frame size. XS and Small bikes use an MX setup, combining a 29in front wheel with a 27.5in rear. The larger front wheel helps roll over rough terrain, while the smaller rear keeps the bike more compact and agile through tighter sections.
Medium and Large frames come with 29in wheels front and rear for smooth rollover and stability. These sizes are also compatible with a 27.5in rear wheel, sold separately, giving riders the option of switching to an MX setup. The frame's geometry adjustment can then be used to optimise the bike around the chosen wheel configuration.
Giant TRA 2 alloy wheels feature hookless rims with a wide 30mm internal width, providing a supportive platform for the high-volume trail tyres. Wide Guard Technology adds protection around the rim edge, while the rear hub uses 72 points of engagement for responsive pickup when you get back on the pedals.
A Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5WT front tyre uses the 3C MaxxTerra compound and provides a substantial tread pattern for grip when braking and cornering. At the rear, a Maxxis Minion DHR II 2.4WT balances braking traction with rolling performance. Both tyres use EXO casings and are tubeless ready.
The rear tyre diameter changes with frame size to match the wheel configuration. XS and Small bikes use a 27.5x2.4WT Minion DHR II, while Medium and Large models come with a 29x2.4WT version.
Shimano Deore provides the 1x12-speed drivetrain. A Shadow+ rear derailleur helps control chain movement over rough ground, while the wide-range 10-51T Deore cassette gives plenty of low gearing for steep and technical climbs.
The drivetrain is completed by a Praxis Cadet HD M24 Boost crankset with a 30T chainring and KMC X12 chain. Crank length is size-specific, with 165mm cranks on XS and 170mm on Small, Medium and Large bikes.
TRP EVO Comp hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power, with a larger 203mm rotor up front and a 180mm rotor at the rear. This gives the front brake additional capacity for managing speed on steeper or longer descents while retaining good modulation.
A Giant Contact Switch AT dropper post is fitted as standard, with travel matched to frame size. XS and Small bikes get 140-170mm of adjustable travel, while Medium and Large sizes increase this to 170-200mm, helping maximise clearance for descending.
The cockpit is also scaled across the size range. Giant Contact TR35 alloy handlebars are 760mm wide on XS, Small and Medium bikes, increasing to 780mm on Large. The Contact SL 35 stem measures 40mm on XS and 50mm on the remaining sizes.
Integrated downtube storage provides a convenient place to carry tools, snacks and other small ride essentials without needing a pack. Additional storage mounts beneath the top tube provide another option for attaching tools or accessories directly to the bike.
Overall, the Intrigue X 2 is designed around adaptability. Adjustable reach and geometry, different wheel configurations and size-specific components let riders tailor the setup, while 150/140mm Fox suspension, Deore gearing and TRP brakes provide a well-rounded package for varied trail riding.
