Product Description

Lots of cross country riders dont want to give up their big ring in exchange for a crank-mounted bash guard, nor do they want to add a large, heavy bash ring on top of an outer chainring. With an XCG, you can keep the big chainring on and not worry about damaging it on obstacles. The XCG is light weight, and costs a lot less than replacing a high quality 44T ring, so it’s a great accessory for the fast and technically aggressive XC rider or for any rider looking to protect their investment

The Features of the MRP XCG Triple Chain Guard - Chainguide are:

  • Protects triple crank outer rings up to 44T

  • Raised upper profile catches chain from inboard drops

  • Bottom-bracket mount or ISCG

  • Weight: 120g

Chainguides Guide

What are chainguides?

Chainguides are designed to mechanically keep the chain from falling off the drivetrain, commonly used in mountain biking.

Who needs a chainguide?

A chainguide is to help prevent a dropped chain while mountain biking. Bikers who ride a single or double ring set-up on very rough terrain will benefit the most.

What are the choices?

You can choose from an upper or lower chain guide, which helps keep the chain line in place. Lower chain guides work well with dual-ring set-ups, upper guides are good for single-ring arrangements. You can also get chainguides that come with an integrated bash guard.

What should I buy with them?

If you’re replacing a triple set-up, a bashguard that goes in place of the outer chainring is a popular choice.

Anything else?

It’s crucial that you make sure your bike’s frame has the right fittings for your chosen chainguard. Some fit around the bottom bracket, others clamp around the seat tube and more still use ISCG tabs that are welded to the frame.
