The Marin Gestalt Base is designed for riders who enjoy mixing up their routes. Whether you're commuting during the week, heading out for fitness rides, exploring gravel paths or planning a weekend adventure, it offers the versatility to handle a wide range of riding styles and surfaces.
At the heart of the bike is Marin's Series 2 Beyond Road frame, constructed from lightweight 6061 aluminium. The frame uses gravel-inspired geometry that balances stability and comfort with efficient road manners, helping riders feel confident whether they're riding on tarmac, towpaths or rougher tracks. Internal cable routing gives the bike a clean appearance, while integrated rack, mudguard and kickstand mounts add everyday practicality.
The Gestalt Base is equipped with Shimano Claris 2x8-speed gearing, combining reliable shifting with a broad gear range suitable for varied terrain. Paired with the FSA Tempo Compact 50/34T chainset, it provides low enough gears for climbing and higher ratios for maintaining speed on flatter roads.
Mechanical disc brakes from Tektro offer dependable stopping performance in a variety of weather conditions. The MD-C400 system uses 160mm rotors front and rear, helping deliver consistent braking whether you're riding on wet roads or loose gravel surfaces.
Rolling on Marin double-wall aluminium wheels, the bike is fitted with WTB Exposure Comp 700x36 tyres. The larger volume tyres help smooth rough surfaces while providing grip and confidence on mixed terrain. They also offer a comfortable ride without feeling sluggish on paved roads.
A key part of the Gestalt's versatility comes from its thoughtfully chosen finishing kit. The Marin alloy handlebars feature a 16-degree flare, creating a wider, more stable hand position when riding on rough ground or descending loose surfaces. This extra control is particularly useful when venturing beyond smooth roads.
With clearance for larger tyres, mounts for luggage and mudguards, dependable components and a comfortable riding position, the Marin Gestalt Base is a capable all-rounder. It's equally suited to commuting, leisure riding, gravel exploration and light touring, making it a great choice for riders who want the freedom to take the long route home and discover new roads along the way.
