The Big Trail 500 has been shaped by riders who wanted a simple, tough, and confidence-inspiring trail bike. The lightweight aluminium frame uses double-butted tubing with smooth welds for strength and clean looks, plus internal cable routing to keep maintenance low. Boost hub spacing adds stiffness, while clearance for up to 2.5” tyres means you can run aggressive rubber for grip and comfort.
Up front, the RockShox Psylo Silver RC air fork gives you 140mm of travel, helping you stay composed when trails get rough. Wide Merida Comp TR rims (29mm inner width) are paired with Maxxis trail-favourite tyres – a 2.5” Minion DHF on the front for bite and a 2.4” Dissector on the rear for speed and control. The wheels come tubeless ready too.
Shimano’s CUES U6000 10-speed drivetrain delivers crisp and consistent shifting, while the 11-48T cassette keeps you spinning efficiently on long climbs. Powerful SRAM DB4 4-piston brakes, with big 200/180mm rotors, provide reliable stopping power whatever the conditions. A long-travel Merida Expert dropper post adds confidence on steep descents, letting you shift your weight easily.
Geometry is progressive yet versatile, with a slack 64° head angle for downhill stability and a steep 76.5° seat tube to make climbing feel direct. Merida’s Agilometer sizing system means you can choose frame length to match riding style – longer for speed and stability, shorter for agility and playfulness.
