The Merida Etmo 800 is designed to deliver proper e-MTB capability for riders who want to spend more time riding trails and less time worrying about limitations. Built around Merida’s durable Lite I aluminium frame platform, it combines long-travel suspension, modern geometry and Bosch’s latest drive system to create a versatile and confidence-inspiring electric mountain bike.
With 160mm of suspension travel front and rear, the Etmo 800 is well equipped for technical trails, rocky descents and demanding off-road riding. Up front, the Marzocchi Bomber Z eMTB fork uses stout 38mm stanchions to improve steering precision and control through rough terrain, while the Marzocchi Bomber Air rear shock helps maintain grip and composure on uneven surfaces.
Merida’s mixed wheel size setup pairs a 29-inch front wheel with a smaller 27.5-inch rear wheel. This combination delivers stable front-end handling and rollover capability while keeping the rear of the bike agile and manoeuvrable on tighter trails and steeper sections.
Power comes from Bosch’s latest Performance CX motor, delivering strong assistance for steep climbs, technical ascents and longer rides. The standard 85Nm output already provides plenty of support, while Bosch Performance Update 2.0 allows compatible motors to be upgraded to as much as 120Nm through the Bosch eBike Flow app. Riders can also fine-tune support settings and motor response to suit their riding style and terrain.
The integrated 800Wh Bosch PowerTube battery offers excellent range potential for longer trail rides, all-day uplift-free riding and back-to-back laps at trail centres without constant charging concerns.
Shimano’s XT LinkGlide 11-speed drivetrain is designed specifically for the demands of e-bike riding, offering smooth shifting and increased durability under higher torque loads. Powerful Shimano XT four-piston hydraulic disc brakes with large 203mm rotors provide dependable stopping power and control on steep or demanding descents.
Reynolds Enduro Comp wheels add strength and tubeless-ready practicality, while Continental Kryptotal tyres with Enduro casings and soft compounds provide dependable grip across loose, rocky and wet trail conditions.
Additional details like the long-travel dropper post, integrated cable routing and Merida’s included mini tool help make the Etmo 800 a practical and capable e-MTB for riders progressing their trail riding or looking for a dependable full-power electric mountain bike for varied terrain.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimeters for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but is like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the e mountain bike column.
