The Merida Matts J.20+ is built for fun, confidence, and adventure, offering young riders a well-balanced mix of lightweight performance and durability. The 6061 aluminium frame keeps things light and easy to handle, while the rigid aluminium fork saves weight over heavier suspension forks that often don’t work well for lighter riders.
With wide 2.4” tyres, this bike provides added comfort, grip, and stability on different terrains, from tarmac to light trails. Running at lower pressures, the tyres help smooth out bumps, making it easier for kids to ride longer without discomfort.
A Shimano 7-speed drivetrain keeps gear shifting simple and intuitive, with a rapid-fire shifter that’s easy for smaller hands to operate. The 28T chainring and 14-34T cassette offer a wide range of gears, helping kids tackle small hills and varied terrain with confidence.
Braking is made easy with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, offering better stopping power and control than traditional rim brakes, especially in wet or muddy conditions. With 160 mm rotors at the front and 140 mm at the rear, stopping is smooth and predictable.
To help extend the bike’s lifespan as your child grows, Merida includes a flip-flop stem and stackable spacers, making it easy to adjust the fit over time. This means more riding before an upgrade is needed.
Ideal for young riders ready to explore, build confidence, and have fun, the Merida Matts J.20+ is a well-equipped, durable bike designed to make every ride enjoyable.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimetres for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but are like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the Mountain bike column.
Read our bike size guide for more information on sizing.
