Merida Silex 4000 2026 - Gravel Bike

The Merida Silex 4000 is built for the spirit of adventure, whether you’re tackling gravel paths, heading into the hills, or loading up for bikepacking trips. Unlike bikes adapted from road or cyclocross designs, the Silex was developed from the ground up with modern MTB-inspired geometry. A long top tube, short stem, and slack head angle create stable, confidence-inspiring handling on loose ground, while still keeping the bike nimble for technical sections.
Key Features:
- CF2 carbon frame, gravel geometry, clearance up to 45c tyres
- Merida Silex II carbon fork with tapered steerer
- Shimano GRX400 2x10-speed gravel drivetrain
- Shimano GRX400 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors
- Reynolds G30 wheels with Shimano hubs
- Maxxis Rambler 700x45c tyres with gravel tread
- Multiple mounting points for bottles, racks and accessories
- Available with 0% APR finance
The CF2 carbon frame balances stiffness and comfort, while offering tyre clearance up to 45mm (or 42mm with mudguards) for wide gravel tyres that can be run at lower pressures. This increases grip and smooths out the roughest lanes and tracks. The frame integrates Disc Cooler technology, with CNC’d aluminium fins helping reduce heat build-up in the brakes by up to 35%, especially useful when carrying bikepacking loads on long descents.
The carbon Silex II fork features a tapered steerer for precision handling and compatibility with tyres up to 47mm wide, ensuring plenty of clearance for adventure-ready set-ups. The frame also provides five sets of bottle bosses and mounts for racks and accessories, allowing you to configure the bike for long-distance touring, bikepacking, or everyday utility.
Drivetrain duties are handled by Shimano GRX400 2x10-speed, specifically designed for gravel with optimised gearing for climbing, cruising, and carrying loads. Paired with a 46/30T chain set and 11-36T cassette, it offers a wide gear range to match varied terrain. Stopping power comes from Shimano GRX400 hydraulic disc brakes with large 180mm rotors, giving reliable, confidence-inspiring braking on descents and in all weather conditions.
The bike rolls on Reynolds G30 wheels, tubeless-ready and paired with Maxxis Rambler 700x45C tyres. The Rambler’s fast-rolling centre tread and grippy side knobs strike a balance between speed and control, perfect for mixed-surface riding. Finishing kit includes a Merida Expert SL carbon seat post for compliance, a Merida Comp SL saddle with recycled materials, and a Merida Expert GRII bar optimised for gravel comfort.
Whether you’re chasing horizons, exploring new back roads, or just enjoying the camaraderie of gravel riding, it’s a bike that invites you to ride further.
