Merida Silex 700 2026 - Gravel Bike

The Merida Silex 700 stays true to its roots, it’s a gravel bike designed for adventure, not imitation. Rather than adapting road geometry, Merida started fresh, crafting the Silex with mountain bike-inspired proportions. A long top tube and head tube combine with a short stem for agile, confident handling, giving you better control when the terrain turns rough. The result is a gravel bike that feels stable on descents, responsive on climbs, and comfortable over long distances.

The Lite II aluminium frame is lightweight yet strong, with hydroformed and smooth-welded tubing for a clean look and durable ride. It’s paired with a carbon CF2 fork that soaks up trail chatter and keeps the steering sharp. With clearance for up to 700x45c tyres (47c up front), the Silex offers a reassuring grip and comfort across a variety of surfaces. Mounting points abound — five bottle cage bosses, rack mounts, and the option for an internally routed dropper post or dynamo hub, making it ideal for both day trips and fully loaded expeditions.
The Shimano GRX820 1x12 drivetrain is purpose-built for gravel, offering precise, reliable shifting and a wide 10-51T range to handle everything from steep climbs to fast flats. Powerful GRX820 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors provide controlled stopping power in all weather conditions. Merida’s clever design even places the calipers on the chainstay for improved heat dissipation and a cleaner aesthetic, with CNC’d aluminium Disc Cooler fins reducing brake temperatures by up to 35% on carbon models.
The Shimano WH-RX180 wheelset keeps things fast and reliable with a 25mm internal rim width suited to modern, high-volume gravel tyres. Maxxis Rambler 700x45C tyres balance low rolling resistance with sure-footed grip, reinforced with EXO sidewall protection for peace of mind on rocky trails.
A carbon Merida Expert SL seatpost helps absorb road vibration, paired with a supportive Merida Expert SL saddle crafted from sustainable materials. Ergonomic Merida Expert GRII handlebars and a compact Team CC III stem complete the cockpit, optimised for control and long-ride comfort.
