If going fast on the trails is what you’re after, then the Mondraker Foxy Carbon RR MTB is right up your street. It’s an enduro bike with downhill ambitions, yet is happy taking on tamer trails too. Versatility is the aim.
The Mondraker Foxy Carbon RR has a new Stealth Carbon frame for 2018. The Foxy Carbon has revised Forward Geometry, giving it an even more capable ride, with longer reach and wheelbase, and a slacker head angel. It features oversized 15mm axles and larger bearings for greater stiffness and durability, as well as downtube and chainstay protectors that save the frame from rock strikes and the chain. Boost 12x148mm spacing allows for a shorter rear end, giving nimble handling and extra tyre clearance. The Foxy is only allows for a 1x drivetrain.
A trunion mounted Fox Float DPX2 Evol Performance rear shock rear shock allows the 150mm travel to gobble the bumps. The Zero Suspension System uses two links that both connect to the shock to create a ‘floating’ system. It offers a neutral pedalling platform while climbing, yet opens completely for descents to keep you glued to the ground.
Balancing the rear shock is a Fox 34 Float GRIP Evol Performance up front. It has Boost 15x110mm spacing to give more direct steering, and the 3Pos damper allows for slow speed compression adjustment.
SRAM’s 1x12 speed GX Eagle drivetrain offers a massive 500% gear range with its 10-50t cassette. No other 1x drivetrain can match the range, and it makes it a dream to climb steep or long ascents with. Pointed down, the Shimano XT brakes take over, offering reliable and consistent braking performance. Mavic’s XA alloy wheelset delivers a fantastic platform for the Maxxis tyres, giving them a stable base in which to roll, while the tyres maintain grip in even the worst conditions.
