Product description

Moon are well known for creating exceptional bike lights. So as you?d expect the Comet 30 USB rechargeable rear light is packed full of features and brand quality, all for great value. The 30 lumen output, while not strong enough for pitch dark riding is wide beamed for urban commutes.

You have the option of attaching the Comet 30 vertically or horizontally depending on your preference, and it?s compact enough (8 x 1.2 x 2cm) to fit wherever you want. Tool less fitting thanks to the rubber strap is great for when you need to remove your light regularly.

Moon have also help you keep track on how much charge you have left with a useful low battery indicator which glows red when you?ve only got 30 minutes of charge left. The Lithium-Ion battery only takes 2 hours to charge by USB and auto cuts out when fully charged to help conserve battery performance. You get between 1.7 - 6.8 hours of charge on constant mode and between 3 - 5.5 hours on flash.

Moon comet

Very bright and easy to attach but build quality isn't that good firstly the rubber bung that covers the usb charging point comes off ive had two of these lights, so then I was having to cover the usb hole with insulation tape so water gets in and eventually gets in and it stops working both of them did last around a year and I do commute every day but I've had a cateye for 6 years as a back up and it's still going strong.

Great attachment options

Great bright rear light with multiple attachment options which is rare. There is a clip attachment, a saddle attachment and a clamp with a rubber strap for attaching to seat posts. This is great as it allows me to attach the saddle clamp and then use the clip attachment whenever I have a rear bag obscuring the saddle as the light is quick release. There are also six light options of varying intensity and flash frequency split into two types so you don't have to cycle through all six, you select flashing and then go through those three or if you want solid beam you select that then select the 3 brightnesses.

Failed prematurely

I purchased a Moon Comet 30 from Tredz in Sept 13, which stopped working after 2 years. It had been working perfectly and I had been very pleased with it, to the point that I'd recommended this rear light to other cyclists, who had subsequently purchased the same item. It failed during a night ride in December 15', when at the end of a 2 hour ride it wouldn't switch off and continued to work in flash mode. Thinking the battery was low I fully charged it and when I switched it on, it initially worked in continuous and flashing mode and then again it wouldn't switch off and worked only in flashing mode. I finally managed to switch it off and it hasn't worked at all since! A great light when it works, but seems that Moon have design or manufacturing issues! I rarely ride in the wet and always ride with a rear mudguard so it's not been subjected to ingress of water. There is clearly a fault with this rear light and I would like Moon to send me a replacement.

Great versatility but battery warning not great

Great bike lights - really bright and mount means you can stick them anywhere on your handlebars. However, main bugbear is that you're told to consider recharging it when the lightning bolt starts flashing - but this seems to be a very poor predictor of when the battery will start running out (i.e. it starts soon after you begin using it) and I have been caught out more than once on a busy road at night and the lights die. Not safe! Have now got around this by charging them every few days.

first class

Purchased for a gift for my son-in-law, a very keen cyclist. Requested by him on his gift list as he needed a brand new one as he cycles to work on busy roads.

Excellent, bright rear light

Spoke with Tredz and they recommended this rear light which I specifically wanted for my TT bike. Very helpful staff and delighted with the product. Easy to fit, versatile fixing brackets, excellent build quality and very bright. Just the job.

Bright and easy to use!

I bought this for my girlfriend with a separate, brighter front light. This is clear, easy to mount and easy to use. Charging is easy and quick, the bike is visible and the strobe effect is great. High recommend this for commuters who are in relatively well lit areas.
