The Orbea Carpe 20 is designed to make everyday journeys simpler, combining electric assistance with a lightweight, agile platform that's easy to live with on and off the bike. Orbea's Urban Active Geometry is intended to provide responsive handling through busy streets while keeping the riding position comfortable for regular commuting and everyday use.
The hydroformed 6061 aluminium frame is paired with an Orbea carbon rigid fork, helping keep weight down and steering responsive. The frame also forms part of Orbea's wider cockpit and equipment ecosystem, allowing the bike to be adapted with accessories to suit different everyday needs.
Storage has been considered as part of the Carpe's design. The pedals fold away, while the handlebar can be turned neatly in line with the bike to reduce its overall width. This makes the Carpe easier to store in tighter spaces at home or work, particularly where a conventional bike can be awkward to accommodate.
Electric assistance comes from Shimano's EP600 drive system. Orbea has tuned the system around urban riding, providing smooth, natural assistance for repeated starts, hills and longer journeys. The compact motor works with an integrated 420Wh battery, helping balance useful assistance with the Carpe's focus on manageable weight and agile handling.
The Shimano EN500 interface provides control over the electric assistance system and displays key ride information while you're on the move.
Shimano CUES components provide simple and dependable 1x9-speed gearing. The U4000 Shadow rear derailleur and SL-U4000 shifter are paired with a wide-range 11-46T SunRace cassette, giving you useful lower gears for hills without the additional controls and maintenance of a front derailleur.
Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes provide predictable braking with relatively little lever effort. Their consistent performance makes them well suited to regular urban riding, where changing traffic, junctions and weather can mean frequent braking.
The 700c alloy wheels are fitted with 42mm Vittoria Randonneur tyres. Their generous width provides useful cushioning over broken tarmac and rougher urban surfaces, while reflective sidewall bands help improve visibility in low-light conditions.
Visibility is further supported by the Carpe's integrated lighting setup, including a light incorporated into the aluminium seatpost. The manufacturer also highlights security and tracker-ready provisions as part of the wider Carpe design, giving riders options to add further protection for regular urban use.
A Selle Royal Vivo Ergo saddle adds everyday comfort, while a kickstand is included for convenient parking. The frame is also trailer compatible, adding another option for riders who need to carry more than they can comfortably fit on the bike itself.
The Carpe 20 combines its electric assistance with practical details that make a difference when the bike is used regularly. From its compact storage features and integrated lighting to wide tyres, simple gearing and adaptable equipment options, it's designed to fit naturally into commuting and everyday urban journeys.
