The Orbea Orca M30i is a lightweight performance road bike designed around efficient climbing and responsive handling. Orbea has focused on balancing low weight with the stiffness needed for effective power transfer, helping the bike feel lively when accelerating, climbing and changing direction.
Its OMR carbon frame uses monocoque construction, allowing Orbea to carefully manage the structure of different areas of the frame. Material can be used where stiffness is important while unnecessary weight is reduced elsewhere. The result is designed to provide the responsive feel of a lightweight road bike without sacrificing the rigidity needed when putting more power through the pedals.
The matching Orca OMR fork uses full carbon construction, including the steerer, helping keep weight down at the front of the bike. Its tapered design and 12mm thru-axle contribute to precise steering and a secure connection between the fork and front wheel.
Shimano 105 Di2 provides electronic 2x12-speed shifting. The R7150 front and rear derailleurs are paired with R7170 Di2 shifters, providing quick, precise gear changes with light lever inputs. Electronic shifting is particularly useful when making frequent changes over rolling terrain or selecting another gear while climbing under load.
A Shimano 105 50/34T chainset is paired with an 11-34T 12-speed cassette. This gives the Orca a versatile spread of gears, with useful lower ratios for steeper or sustained climbs while retaining smaller steps between gears to help you maintain a comfortable cadence on flatter and rolling roads.
Shimano R7170 hydraulic disc brakes provide consistent braking and good modulation across changing road conditions. Hydraulic operation requires relatively little lever effort, helping you control your speed smoothly through corners and on longer descents.
The 700c alloy wheels use 19mm internal-width rims and are tubeless ready, giving you the option to move to a compatible tubeless tyre setup. Continental Grand Prix 700x28c folding tyres provide a versatile balance of rolling efficiency, grip and cushioning for everyday performance road riding.
A 27.2mm Orbea SP 0.2 carbon seatpost helps reduce weight and can provide some compliance over rougher road surfaces. It uses 20mm of setback and is paired with a Fizik Aliante R5 saddle for a performance-focused but practical finishing setup.
The OC Road Performance cockpit combines an RP23 stem with an RP31 handlebar, while internal cable routing gives the front of the bike a clean appearance. The frame is also power meter compatible, making it easier to add power-based training and pacing in the future.
The Orca M30i is a good option for riders drawn to the responsive feel of a lightweight road bike but who also want the convenience and precision of electronic shifting. With OMR carbon construction, Shimano 105 Di2 and versatile road gearing, it's well suited to climbing, sportives, fast recreational rides and longer days across varied terrain.
