Product Description

Ortlieb’s classic seat bag is available in three sizes, depending on the type of tour. The 0.8L version is an excellent fit for road applications, while 1.3L is perfect for mountain bikers. And the 2.7L is a true alternative to carrying a backpack, providing room for equipment, snacks, extra shells and tools for long day tours. It tucks in nicely under the saddle, and often functions as protector on bikes without fenders. The additional fixation with Velcro around the seat post provides firm and vibration-free mounting. The 100% waterproof roll closure features buckles and D-rings for locking the bag. The mounting set is also available as an accessory.

Key Features:
  • Scotchlite reflector
  • Alternative strap fastening set available as an accessory

Orleib Saddle Bag 2.7 litre

Really pleased with this bag. I bought the Lime/Black and it looks good, has plenty of space for maps, bars, extra jacket etc and is easy to get on and off the bike. One thing I would say, I have a small framed bike and when FULLY loaded the saddle bag does rub on the rear tyre. I am now going to purchase the extra straps that go with the bag but ideally would have liked these to be included and not an extra item to order and pay for. Apart from that, a brilliant bag and well worth the cost.

Ortlieb Large Saddlebag

Really pleased with the Ortlieb large saddle bag. It has plenty of capacity including room for a waterproof jacket, spare tubes, energy gels, bike lock etc. Not the cheapest bag but it fits neatly and easily on the bike, it looks good and the 5 year warranty tells you all you need to know about the quality. Spare mounting brackets are available for about £5 so you can easily move the bag from one bike to another. Very pleased with this bag,

Saddle Bags Guide

What are saddle bags?

A small bag for your bike such as a seatpack or frame bag gives you the opportunity to transport useful tools, snacks and valuables to prevent them falling out of your pockets. They are attached using Velcro or clips so they can easily be removed and washed.

Who needs a saddle bag?

Smaller bags are ideal for shorter journeys when you only need the bare essentials. They are favoured by weight-conscious cyclists as you can fit in a surprising amount of stuff without affecting the aerodynamics of your bike.

What are the choices?

You can choose from seatpacks which fit snuggly under your saddle, frame bags which attach to your frame or bar bags which are often seen on triathlon bikes. Look for sturdy, durable, waterproof material and separate compartments for easier organisation.

What should I buy with them?

Why not kit your bag out with some cycling essentials? A hand pump and/or CO2 cannisters are an obvious choice, along with a small puncture repair kit, multitool, energy bar and a couple of quid for a snack, drink or emergency phonecall (that’s if you’re lucky enough to find a phonebox these days).

Anything else?

Just remember that small luggage bags can be easy to remove, so remember to take any valuables out if you’re leaving your bike unattended.
