Raleigh Mustang E Comp 2018 - Electric Road Bike
The star of our Adventure Range goes electric! The Mustang is the perfect companion for the cyclist who enjoys a bit of everything but wants to maintain the speed and stamina across multiple terrains. Think less road bike and more ultimate drop bar do everything bike!
Designed for the real world of getting to work or grabbing some fun at the weekend, the Mustang Comp Electric is a hybrid bike built for speed and agility. Boasting all the features that make adventure bikes so popular, the Mustang Electric has been specifically developed to find the perfect balance between road and off-road riding allowing you to ride on a wide range of terrains with the added benefit of electric assistance.
The carefully tailored gravel frame geometry is designed to offer a more relaxed riding position than a traditional road bike without compromising too much on speed. A gravel-specific carbon fork has been fitted to be lightweight and shock absorbent while the tapered alloy steerer affords precise handling and great tyre clearance. Plus the Mustang makes use of SRAM's wide range Apex 1 gears combined with a single chain ring for the ultimate in simplicity all of which contributes to the Mustang Comp Electric weighing in at an impressive 18.5kg.
The Mustang is equipped with the Shimano Steps E6000 ebike system featuring a powerful 50NM centre mount motor. The motor boasts virtually no drag which makes it quicker off the mark than other systems meaning that if you ride faster than the 15mph assisted limit the motor won’t slow you down. This is something we feel is particularly important for a bike built for this purpose. The key to the Shimano STEPS system is the integration of gears, motor and controller to produce a quiet, powerful and efficient riding experience. The 400wh battery is semi-integrated into the frame and boasts a range of between 40 and 125km* dependent on the level of assistance selected. Plus, the large Shimano computer display provides you with the information you need to enjoy your ride.
Smaller 650B wheels with high profile tyres have been specially selected for the Mustang Comp Electric inspired by the world of Adventure riding. Designed to provide added comfort and cushioning while riding as well as increasing your speed; the 42mm wide tyres have a gravel specific tread and provide additional traction and comfort, particularly on looser ground surfaces. The high-volume tyres can run at much lower pressures than their traditional 700C road counterparts enabling them to easily absorb bumps in the road and create a more comfortable and supple ride quality.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimeters for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but is like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the e mountain bike column.
