Product Description

THE INNOVATION

Off road: Riding at lower pressure means better performance ... but at the same time it increases the risk of failures. The limit so far is at about 20 psi, below which it’s hardly possible to dare to ride normal MTB tires.

But nothing stays the same:
In the future, air pressure can be controlled in the tire‘s double chambers. In the outer chamber, the air pressure is extremely low - ideal for maximum off road performance. In the inner chamber, directly on the rim, there is high air pressure – even a very strong impact cannot dent the rim edge. At the same time, the inner high-pressure system secures the tire onto the rim. “Burping”, the dreaded loss of air at low pressure in conventional tubeless systems, is impossible.

The name
PROCORE is derived from "Progressive Core". The core (internal high pressure chamber) progressively absorbs even the hardest impacts.

The compatibility
You can mount Procore with any tubeless compatible MTB tire. The system is available for all three MTB wheel sizes (26“, 27.5“, 29“). Weight approx. 200 g per wheel. Compatible with all wheels, independent of the brand. Minimum inner rim width: 23 mm.

PROCORE is a joint development of SCHWALBE and SYNTACE.

THE DESIGN

PROCORE - the outer chamber
The outer chamber is tubeless. Therefore, any tubeless compatible MTB tires can be used. The tire is filled with some liquid sealant (approx. 60 ml) and should be at least 57 mm (2.25“) wide.

PROCORE - the inner chamber

Two special Procore components form the inner high pressure chamber: the special Procore tube and the Procore inner tire. This "core" is extremely high pressure stable and at the same time very light.

The rim

Of course, the rim must be tubeless compatible and sealed with a tubeless rim band. It should have an inner rim width of at least 23 mm. The wider the rim, the easier the installation and the better the performance under low air pressure. The very wide Syntace rims are a perfect fit.

The PROCORE valve

The patented dual valve of the Procore tube distributes the air into both chambers. The upper part of the valve is a selector. With a simple turn, you select whether air is pumped into the inner or the outer chamber.

The PROCORE Air Guide

The small red component made of white plastic ensures that the air can flow past the inner high pressure chamber into the outer low pressure chamber.

THE BENEFITS

Tire pressure can be reduced to a minimum 14 psi, thus giving a huge amount of grip. Even on the roughest terrain tires “stick” to the ground.

The tire gives extremely sensitive cushioning.

Due to the extra cushioning and traction there is much better steering, braking and traction control.

No more risk of snake bites. The rims are extremely well protected from denting.

Even in the toughest conditions, significantly lighter tires can be used.

Excellent emergency running characteristics due to the internal high-pressure air chamber.

THE FITTING PROCESS

Prerequisites:

tubeless compatible tire, minimum width 57 mm (2.25”)
tubeless compatible wheel, minimum rim width 23 mm (with rim widths of 21 or 22 mm the installation can turn out to be very difficult)

Fitting instructions

PROCORE INNER TIRE
The special inner tire for the PROCORE system - light and high pressure stable.

PROCORE TUBE
Special tube for the PROCORE system. Fitted with the patented dual valve to fill both air chambers.

PROCORE AIRGUIDE
A small part with a crucial function: the AirGuide guides the air from the dual valve into the outer chamber. Can be used for all three wheel sizes (26“, 27.5“, 29“).

Doc Blue Professional

New Doc Blue: Now even better formulated for Tubeless conversions. Produced by Stan’s NoTubes! It can also be used as a puncture potection preventative for bicycle tubes, tubular tires and standard Tubeless systems.

Dose:
60 ml/tire (Race bike 30 ml). Effective ca. 2-7 Months. Thereafter dries to a rubber film. Can be renewed. Only suitable for tubes with a removable valve core. Not effective on large defects (cuts/bursts).

Tubeless Rim Tape

The tubeless rim tape is extremely user friendly and at the same time very high pressure resistant. Even on road bikes a single ply of tape is sufficient.

Tire Levers

Tire changing made easy! The special shape of the lever reduces the danger of the tube being pinched during installation. When removing a tire, the lever can be snapped onto the spoke – leaving hands free for the second lever. The high-quality plastic is virtually unbreakable. Levers can be clipped together for easy storage.

Tyres Guide

What type of tyre do I need?

It’s best to choose a bike tyre based on the type of riding you’re going to be doing.

Road bike tyres

Road bike tyres are identified by a smooth tread pattern and narrow width for speed and efficiency.

Mountain bike tyres

MTB tyres are much wider with chunky tread for added grip on off-road conditions.

Hybrid/ commuter tyres

These tyres will often blend characteristics from road and MTB tyres with added puncture protection for daily durability.

Does tyre width matter?

Thin tyres are fastest as they have low rolling resistance and are more aerodynamically profiled.

Wide tyres are more comfortable and stable due to the increased contact patch with the ground.

How to check your current tyre size?

Take a look at the sidewall of your current tyres and you’ll see one or two sets of figures;

One is the traditional size like 700x28c or 27.5x2.2.

The first figure is the tyre diameter (size). The second is tyre width. Note: road bike sizes are in mm, MTB sizes are in inches

The other set of figures you may see is ETRTO sizing like this 28-622.

The first number here is tyre width while the second number relates to wheel diameter.

Here is a comparrison chart for traditional and ETRTO sizing to help you choose the correct tyre size.

ETRTO Number Dimension
 700c road bike wheels
 18-622  700 x 18C
 23-622  700 x 23C
 25-622  700 x 25C
 28-622  700 x 28C
 32-622  700 x 32C
 37-622  700 x 35C
 47-622  700 x 47C
 26" mountain bike wheels
 50-559  26 x 1.9
 54-559  26 x 2.1
 55-559  26 x 2.2
 58-559  26 x 2.35
  27.5" (650b) mountain bike wheels
 50-584  27.5 x 1.95
 54-584  27.5 x 2.1
 57-584  27.5 x 2.25
 29" mountain bike wheels
 50-622  29 x 2.0
 54-622  29 x 2.1
 55-622  29 x 2.2

Will this tyre fit my wheel?

Your new tyre must be the same diameter as your current one (to fit your wheel rim).

Then, you need a choose a tyre which will fit your frame.

Road bike tyres are generally 21 – 28mm wide

MTB tyres can range from 1.5”-5”

To make things complicated road tyres are measured in mm, while MTB tyres are in inches.

How wide is too wide

You want to leave at least 4mm clearance between your frame and tyres to prevent rub and allow for mud clearance.

Measure the following areas on your frame:

Fork crown (top)

Brake calipers (make sure you squeeze them)

Chainstays

Seatstays

Subtract 4mm and you’ll have the maximum width your frame can handle.

What is the best type of tyre for daily riding?

If you’re commuting, riding and training daily you’ll want a tyre with some form of puncture resistance.

Puncture resistance often comes in the form of a harder or thicker rubber compound, or a protective layer running underneath the tread pattern.

What are tubeless tyres

Tubeless tyres do not have an inner tube. The tyre and rim of your wheel (you need a tubeless ready rim) create an airtight seal with the valve directly mounted on the rim.

You can run these tyres at lower pressures for an improved ride quality. A bigger contact with the ground means you have improved traction when cornering.

Tubeless tyres often come with liquid sealant that creates a seal that may heal itself on a small puncture so you can keep riding home.
