The Scott Ransom 600 is designed for younger riders who are progressing onto steeper, rougher and more technical trails. Rather than simply shrinking an adult enduro bike, Scott has used child-specific suspension tuning, cockpit dimensions and contact points to make the bike more manageable for lighter riders.
Its 6061 aluminium frame uses custom-butted tubing to balance strength and weight, while a tapered head tube and Boost 148 rear axle give it a modern trail-bike layout. Internal cable routing keeps the controls tidy, and SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger makes replacement hangers easier to source.
Up front, the X-Fusion Slant RC fork provides 140mm of travel and uses a kids'-specific tune. This is important on a junior bike, as suspension designed around adult rider weights can be too firm for younger riders to use effectively. The lighter tune helps the fork move through its travel more naturally.
At the rear, an X-Fusion 02Pro R shock controls 130mm of suspension travel. It also receives a kids'-specific tune and includes rebound adjustment, allowing the return speed of the shock to be set to suit rider weight and riding style.
SRAM NX provides an 11-speed drivetrain with an 11-42t cassette. The wide range gives young riders useful low gearing for climbs while keeping gear selection simple with a single shifter and rear derailleur.
Shimano MT410 hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power, paired with BL-UR405 levers. Hydraulic operation offers consistent braking with relatively light lever effort, which can make it easier for smaller hands to control speed on longer or steeper descents.
The 26in Syncros DP30 rims have a 30mm internal width and are paired with 2.4in Kenda Hellkat tyres. The wide tyres provide plenty of grip and cushioning over rough terrain, while the 26in wheel size helps keep the bike proportionate for younger riders.
A Syncros Duncan dropper post provides 80mm of travel and uses a child-specific tune. Being able to lower the saddle from the handlebar gives riders more room to move around the bike on descents and technical sections, then return it to pedalling height for climbs.
The 580mm riser handlebar is also designed around younger riders, with a compact width and 19mm-diameter grips that are easier for smaller hands to hold securely. A short 40mm stem keeps the steering direct without stretching the rider too far forward.
The Ransom 600 is a serious junior mountain bike, but its component choices are focused on helping younger riders develop control rather than simply copying an adult build. With long-travel suspension, hydraulic brakes, a dropper post and 26in wheels, it's well suited to confident riders moving into bike-park laps, rougher trails and more technical off-road riding.
