Product Description

The Source Hipster hydration pack has been designed in cooperation with leading endurance athletes in enduro MTB and ultra-marathon running. The Hipster marks a change in the hydration pack industry with a functional, ergonomic bladder system combined in a belt system.

Included in the Hipster is a tailored, made-to-fit 1.5 Widepac Hydration System and Magnetic Clip for easy stowing.

Unlike a hydration pack, the Hipster belt keeps your back vented and free from sweat. The harness can be removed easily, and the mesh material ensures comfortable wear also for those very-long outings.

Zippered mesh pockets on the side and Velcro sealed small back pockets offer space for gels and bars. The Hipster is ideal and extensively tested for biking, hiking, running and paddling.

SOURCE Hydration Technologies

Widepac Closure - The original user-friendly Widepac™ Slide Closure opens wide, allows easy filling, cleaning, draining, and ice insertion. Airtight seal. Most SOURCE Hydration Systems and Hydration Packs feature reservoirs with our signature Widepac Closure.

Taste-Free™ System - Our co-extruded PE film retains the pure taste with absolutely no plastic flavor, also over time. (BPA and Phthalate free.)

GrungeGuard™ Technology - Our GrungeGuard™-Technology inhibits bacteria growth on the reservoir and drinking tube for the life of the system. Technology utilizes FDA-approved and EPA-registered anti-microbial agent.

Glass-Like™ Technology - SOURCE's Glass-Like™ Film is 2000% smoother than standard TPU films, with virtually no difference from glass itself. This multi-layer Polyethylene film, manufactured in accordance with SOURCE's Glass-Like™ technology, prevents bio-film build up, making the system virtually self-cleaning.

Easy Care & Low Maintenance - Glass-Like™ technology combined with Grunge-Guard™ technology represents a new generation in hydration systems, in which cleaning is no longer an issue! Simply refill with water and drink again and again without special care. Water will remain fresh for days and even weeks.

Hydration Packs Guide

Do I need a hydration backpack?

If you ride your mountain bike on off-road trails, then you will want to take some fluid with you. While many MTBs have bottle cages if you want more than 750ml of then you will need a hydration backpack. They are also useful for carrying extra clothing, tools and food.

How much fluid can I carry?

Hydration backpacks are supplied with a 1.5, 2 or 3 litre bladder to carry fluid. A larger bladder will enable you to choose how much you carry with you on specific rides as you don’t need to use the whole capacity. A hose with a mouthpiece and tap allows you to drink while you ride.

How much kit can I carry in a hydration backpack?

This very much depends on the model - a classic CamelBak will only have room for a trail tool and thin layer while an alpine style pack will have room for tools, spares, food waterproofs and post ride clothing. In addition to this some hydration packs have compression straps that allow you to vary the capacity and carry straps for carrying extra kit, like body armour.

What size hydration pack do I need?

This will depend on the type and length of ride.

  • Up to 5 litres – short rides with minimal kit
  • 6–12 litres – all day rides carrying extra layers, food and trail tools
  • 13-25 litres – all day and multi-day rides carrying extra layers, food, tools, spares and post ride clothing

Can I ride technical terrain with a hydration pack?

While all our hydration packs are designed for serious off-roading some are more suited to riding steep technical terrain. Look for a pack with a horizontal or lumbar bladder and a substantial waist strap for riding more challenging, enduro style trails. as these offer a lower centre of gravity for increased stability.

Can I use a hydration pack for commuting?

Many hydration packs feature reflective strips and a tab for a rear light so make a great commuting packs too.

Are the hydration bladders easy to clean?

Yes, hydration pack bladders tend to have a wide opening so you can easily get your hand inside to give them a good clean.
