Product Description

Discover the joys of the trail. The Specialized Rockhopper Comp is a hardtail mountain bike that is quick up the climbs and confident on the way down. The lightweight aluminium alloy frame has dialled XC/trail geometry while the 29” wheels are fast rolling on both rough and smooth terrain.

Key Features:

  • A1 Aluminium alloy frame is lightweight and robust
  • SR Suntour XCM fork for 100mm of bump soaking suspension travel
  • Shimano 2x9 speed drivetrain for a wide gear range
  • Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for powerful stopping
  • Sizes: X Small, Small, Medium, Large, X Large
  • Colours: Gloss East Sierras/Tarmac Black, Gloss Storm Grey/Rocket Red/Tarmac Black
  • The Specialized Rockhopper Comp is available with 0% APR finance

Whether you've been riding trails for decades or you're just starting your XC journey, the Rockhopper Comp 29 is here to take your rides to the next level.

It starts with our new A1 Aluminium frame that has optimized tube shapes that save weight while dramatically improving aesthetics. To go along with these clean new lines, the new Rockhopper also has internal cable routing to further clean up the frame. Lastly, our Sport XC 29 geometry adjusts the reach, angles, and standover height to make for an improved fit across the size range. This is sure to keep you ripping and confident while heading both up and down the trail.

This Rockhopper comes with a no-nonsense spec featuring a mixed Shimano drivetrain, dependable Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, grippy Ground Control and Fast Trak tires that add traction over any trail, and an SR Suntour XCM 29 fork with our custom Multi-Circuit damping that eliminates the "pogo" feel commonly associated with coil forks.

The frame is constructed from lightweight A1 aluminium in order to provide a compliant, durable platform to support our acclaimed XC Sport 29 Geometry. Combined, you get a bike that's more than efficient on climbs and descends just as well.

The SR Suntour XCM fork puts out 80/90/100mm (size-specific) of plush and reactive travel, provided by coil-sprung suspension that's custom-tuned for lighter riders.

A Shimano Acera rear derailleur controls the rear shifting with durable aplomb. It shifts along a wide gear range, 11-36t, so you can ride confidently knowing that you'll always have the right gear for the hill at hand.

Sloppy QA - Comp rockhopper 2019
by Anonymous user on 29/01/2019

That Specialized couldn't be bothered to install a gear shifter representing the 2x9 gear configuration. Using "1 . 3" off the 27 gear models is just lazy, and shows lack of detail

Just A couple of changes
by Anonymous user on 23/09/2018

I have just replaced my Rockhopper comp 2010 with this 2019 model and first impressions are very good, it is as you would expect built exceptionally well, the finish quality is excellent. It rides very well and is well balanced. The Suntour forks are Unfortunatly a bit of a let-down, the 2010 came with entry level Rockshox and were great, the suntours are not. I have replaced them! The new gearing was a bit low, but this does seem to be the industry standard, I see this has already been commented on, but to be honest I changed the front rings and went with a 40 tooth outer and I don’t find myself searching for another gear anymore on the downhill sections. Overall in my opinion its great value for the money, I think I would prefer to buy this model and upgrade to the parts I want with the money saved Not forgetting when you but Specialized you buy an amazing customer service and guarantee. (I speak from experience) Cheers Arch

Playtime
by Anonymous user on 08/08/2018

Got this as a playtime hardtail and commute bike.the stock fork is useless. Swapped for a rockshox recon and slapped on some riser bars .shortened the rather lengthy stem to 35mm...now I’ve got a playful hardtail worthy of the ROCKHOPPER lineage! The Xxl frame is only just big enough for me but with the changes it rips. Saddle , gears , brakes all ok at this price point .listed in the trail section on the main specialized site , not just an Xc bike. A spritely trail 29er!
