Product Description

The ultimate high-performance lightweight road bike with more capability than an out and out race bike, named after the famously rough Paris – Roubaix race over the cobbles. The Specialized Roubaix keeps the incredibly stiff and efficient frame and fork and adds compliance and comfort with the low dual seat clamp allowing the seatpost to flex and absorb the buzz of a rough road. The stem and cockpit are damped by the 20mm of Future shock suspension that does not adversely affect handling. The Roubaix is ready to take on the roads less travelled.

Key Features:

  • Lightweight FACT 11r carbon fibre frame
  • Future shock gives 20mm travel above carbon fibre forks
  • Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 2x11 electronic drivetrain gives precise shifting
  • Roval carbon fire wheelset
  • Shimano Dura-Ace hydraulic disc brakes for consistent stopping power
  • Endurance geometry
  • Sizes: 49, 52, 54, 56, 58, 61cm
  • Colours: Gloss Tarmac Black/Chameleon Edge Fade /Light Turquoise/Clean
  • The Specialized S-Works Roubaix is available with 0% APR finance

For years, your race bike selection was limited to stiff and snappy or compliant and comfortable—that is, until the new Roubaix. Featuring a completely Rider-First Engineered™ frame, our Future Shock technology, and a top-level build kit, the S-Works Roubaix with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 is right at home at a local fondo, a Saturday group ride, or a cobbled road race.

The frame is one of the lightest that we've ever made, and it's been constructed from our top-tier FACT 11r carbon fibre. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some sophisticated engineering, however, we've managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we've all come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range with our Rider-First Engineered™ construction.

Of course, you're probably thinking, "get on to the suspension thing up front." We call it Future Shock, and essentially, it's a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. We developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, we found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that we could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that we've tested with our Rolling Efficiency Model, the Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.

We spec'd our cobble-crushing S-Works frame with the legendary performance of the Shimano Dura-Ace 9150 Di2 electronic build kit and 9170 hydraulic disc brakes, a full assortment of S-Works bits, and hand-built Roval CLX 32s with the legendary CeramicSpeed bearings and custom hubs. Add it all up, and you get a race bike at heart, with the technology to float over the roughest roads.

  • Features our Rider-First Engineered™ design that ensures every frame size has the same legendary responsiveness and smooth ride quality that you'd expect from a Roubaix. The S-Works FACT 11r frameset is our highest quality carbon frame, offering the ideal blend of light overall weight and targeted stiffness, while the all-new Future Shock "suspension" system at the cockpit delivers a revolutionary degree of comfort and control.
  • Shimano's Dura-Ace group offers exceptionally crisp shifts, smooth braking modulation, and it keeps the overall weight of this Roubaix at an absolute minimum.
  • The Roval CLX 32 wheelset is the perfect balance of light weight, durability, and aerodynamics. It's stiff enough for sprinting, strong enough for abuse, and its CeramicSpeed bearings keep things silky-smooth, making them the ultimate all-rounders.

All Tredz bikes are:

  • Fully built & ready to ride
  • Fully checked & tested by Cytech qualified mechanics
  • Available with 0% APR finance on baskets over £99

Road Bike Guide

Road Bike Guide

Is a Road Bike Right for Me?

If you’re new to the cycling world, we highly recommend taking a look at our bike buying guide overview or our road bike buying guide to help you decide what type of bike is right for your needs.

When you’re choosing a road bike, there are a few things to look out for which can help you work out the quality and performance you can expect from a particular model.

Frame Material

The vast majority of road bikes are made from either aluminium alloy or carbon fibre. Alloy bikes can offer higher tier groupsets for a lower price, whereas carbon frames come at a significant premium, but are lighter and give that extra performance advantage.

Aluminium

Aluminium alloy frames
Alloy frames have come a long way recently, using hydroforming and butting to keep the weight low, while keeping stiffness high.

Carbon fibre

Carbon fibre composite frames
Carbon frames have a lighter weight and greater stiffness, while maintaining excellent comfort.

Fork

Road bike forks are made to be lightweight and stiff, giving accurate steering, as well as a comfortable ride. Budget road bikes will have alloy forks, whereas mid-range forks often have mix-material forks, with alloy steerer tubes and carbon fork blades. Carbon bladed forks deliver a more comfortable ride, absorbing road vibrations and flexing slightly in rough roads. Full carbon forks are found on high end road bikes. They are especially lightweight and offer even greater stiffness.

Groupset

A bike’s groupset, or drivetrain, is where the biggest difference in component quality is seen. A complete groupset comprises of the following parts:

  • Chainset (aka Crankset)
  • Bottom bracket
  • Brakes
  • Brake levers
  • Shifters
  • Front & rear derailleur
  • Chain
  • Cassette

Road groupsets are supplied by Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo. Having reliable and fast shifting can make all the difference when pushing hard. The majority of road bikes have double chainring drivetrains, while triple chainring setups are usually only found on low end bikes and touring bikes. Road bikes will have 7-11 speeds in the rear, with higher gears meaning more options for smoother riding.

Road Groupsets

Brakes

Disc Brakes

Disc brakes
Disc brakes offer greater stopping power and modulation. They work as well in wet as dry weather, and don’t require the rims to be replaced periodically. They come at a weight penalty, however.

Calliper Rim Brakes

Calliper rim brakes
Rim brakes are lightweight and easy to maintain. They allow greater aerodynamics for aero road bikes and

Wheels & Tyres

Types of tyres

Road bikes tyres don’t vary as much as mountain bike or even hybrid, but they still make a huge difference to how the bike rides. For a detailed look into road bike tyres, see our guide.

Road tyres have long been offered as either clincher or tubular. Clincher tyres are the standard tyres that fit onto standard rims with a tube holding the air. Tubular tyres are glued to a special tubular rim and are fully encased, doing without a tube.

Tubeless tyres are now a feature of road bikes, delivering a compromise between tubular and clincher tyres. They look the same as clincher tyres, but pair up with special rims to offer a proper seal within the tyres, also doing away with tubes.

Tyre Size

Road tyres are traditionally quite narrow. Nowadays the accepted standard is 25c, but 23c and 28c tyres are very common too. The larger the size tyre, the more comfortable they will be, but they will also be heavier and potentially slower rolling. Sportive and flat bar road bikes will commonly have wider tyres, whereas race and aero road bike will tend towards narrower tyres.
