Folding bikes are made to a “one size fits all” size.

Generally speaking, this should suit riders between 4’9” and 6’3” (145 to 191cm)

Brompton bikes sizing

Brompton size by inside leag measurement, they offer different seatpost lengths to suit. There are three different seatpost options.

Standard Seatpost – Inside leg measurement up to 33”

Extended Seatpost – Inside leg measurement of 33” – 35”

Telescopic Seatpost – Inside leg measurement greater than 35”

What is a folding bike?

A folding bike can be compressed down into a compact package, making it really easy to store and transport.

Who needs a folding bike?

Anyone who doesn’t have room in their life for a full-size bike. Commuters will find them particularly useful, as folding bikes are often allowed on buses and trains where full size bikes are not. People who live in apartments will also appreciate being able to stow their bike in the hall cupboard.

What are the choices?

Folding bikes usually have small wheels so they fold up compactly, but you can also get big-wheel folders which should feel a bit more stable. There are lots of choices, from practical commuters to really quite fancy folders built for high speed.

What should I buy with it?

Don’t forget all those urban commuting essentials, like lock, helmet and lights.

Anything else?

Building an effective folding bike is a challenge for designers, which means there is some fascinating technology on show in this category. Look out for fancy hinges, belt drive, dynamos and hub gears.
