Cable tie required

Well built product and provides me with a much needed bottle cage on handlebars. Sadly tapered handlebars mean it needed a cable tie to hold it in position but otherwise a worthy purchase.

Bargain priced mount.

This is a very well made and simple to fit product. Be aware though that it sticks out too far to put on the seat tube and clashes with the existing mount on the down tube. I put mine on the handle bars where it works fine and gives easy access.

Seems good

This seems good - what can you get for a fiver these days? It protrudes a little bit more than ideal. If you have it mounted into the handlebars towards you, it is closer to you than you may like. I've got mine at 45degrees on the top of my handlebars with a Bontrager bottle cage, and it works well. It has half a mm of rocking/movement in it, even when tightened up fully, which is a little distracting and not ideal, hence the slightly reduced build quality score. Otherwise it feels secure with the bracket and padded strap provided. I wouldn't hesitate buying it though, it you want a convenient handlebar water bottle mount, or in need of fixtures elsewhere on the bike.

Topeak Bottle Cage mount

Good quality plastic. Do not really like shiny metal strip which adjusts to handlebar diameter, strikes me as flimsy and clumsy. Also plastic piece to conform tightening belt to handlebar shape fiddly. Having said that when attached it is a perfectly fine and efficient fit and grip.

Topeak cage mount

We have 1 women's bike and two child bikes none of which have any mountings for a water bottle cage. Found this and fitted it to one of the bikes to try and found it gave a very sturdy mounting for a bottle cage so now ordering another 2 for the other bikes.

Bottles & Cages Guide

What are bike bottles and cages?

A bottle and cage set-up is a really efficient way of staying hydrated while you’re riding. Simply reach out and your beverage is close at hand. It’s so important to drink plenty of fluid while you’re riding to prevent dehydration, so anything that makes it easier to do that is a must-have.

Who needs a bottle and cage?

Riders who need instant refreshment use bottles and cages. Whether the bottle contains water or an energy drink, it’s close at hand and easily supped from a specifically designed mouthpiece. Remember, even if you’re pootling along at a sedate pace, you’re still exercising, which is always thirsty work.

What are the choices?

Choose the bottle which you’ll find easiest to drink out of and the most simple to use with an accompanying cage. The cage selection ranges from feather light carbon holders to sturdy steel receptacles. Side-loading cages are great for compact frames where space is at a premium. BPA-free construction means you won’t ingest any nasty chemicals.

What should I buy with them?

A bottle brush is brilliant for cleaning, especially with smaller bristles to clean the mouthpiece. If your bike doesn’t have eyelets for a cage, there are adaptors available.

Anything else?

Make sure you regularly clean your bottle – it’s very easy to leave it festering on your bike. A few ice cubes in summer gives you a refreshingly chilled drink.
