The Trek Precaliber 20 FW is the ideal step up for children moving on from stabilisers to their first proper geared bike. Its lightweight alloy frame keeps the overall weight down to just 9.27kg, making it easier for kids to handle, while still being durable enough to withstand everyday riding. The upright position and 20” wheels provide stability and control as children gain confidence.
This version features a simple single-speed drivetrain, helping young riders focus on pedalling and steering without the complexity of gear changes. The ProWheel alloy chainset with double guard helps keep the chain secure, while the freewheel design makes coasting easy.
Braking is intuitive thanks to alloy linear-pull rim brakes, with levers designed for smaller hands. The padded saddle integrates a built-in handle, which parents can use to guide their child while learning. This handle can also be swapped out for a rear light mount, adding versatility as kids begin to ride more independently.
The Bontrager XR1 20x2.25” tyres offer grip and cushioning for a comfortable ride across roads, pavements and light trails. A full alloy wheelset ensures durability while keeping weight down. Other kid-specific finishing touches include narrow handlebars, shorter cranks and easy-to-use platform pedals, all designed to suit smaller riders.
Suitable for children aged 6–8 years and measuring 114–132cm tall, the Precaliber 20 FW is a great way to build skills and confidence. With its thoughtful design and child-focused features, it makes every ride enjoyable while helping young riders progress.
