The Trek Rail+ 5 Gen 5 is your gateway to full-power e-MTB riding, delivering trail-crushing capability without the eye-watering price tag. Built around Trek’s proven Alpha Platinum Aluminium frame, it’s equipped for enduro terrain with 160 mm of front and rear travel and a geometry that you can dial in to match your style, thanks to adjustable headset cups and suspension leverage rate tweaks.
Up front, the RockShox Psylo Gold RC fork and Deluxe Select+ rear shock soak up the hits while giving you control and stability when things get steep and fast. Powering your climbs is the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit, pushing up to 120Nm of torque and backed by an enormous 800 Wh Removable Integrated Battery (RIB 2.0). That’s plenty of juice for long backcountry missions or back-to-back bike park laps.
Shimano’s Deore 12-speed groupset brings reliable shifting, and powerful 4-piston brakes make sure you can slow things down in a hurry. Mixed wheels—29" up front and 27.5" out back—boost agility and traction where you need it, while Bontrager’s Gunnison Elite XR tyres handle all conditions. A TranzX dropper post and Blendr-compatible cockpit round out a capable spec that’s ready to upgrade as you go.
Whether you’re chasing big days out, bombing descents or exploring new peaks, the Rail+ 5 is built to get stuck in—and go the distance.
Bosch Performance Update 2.0
Bosch have dropped a fresh update for the Performance Line CX and CX-R motors, and it’s a big one for riders who want more punch on the trails. The update is available for the latest generation motors with the codes BDU384Y and BDU386Y, and it can be installed straight from the Bosch eBike Flow app. Nice and easy.
Once you’ve downloaded Performance Update 2.0, you can crank the motor up to a huge 120 Nm of torque, with up to 600% support and 750 watts of peak power. Bosch have also tweaked things so the motor can hold that power for longer when the riding conditions allow.
The 600% support figure only kicks in between 0 and 15 km/h, so it’s all about helping you power up steep climbs and tricky sections. The maximum assisted speed stays the same at 25 km/h.
As with previous Bosch updates, you can still customise the motor settings in the app to suit your riding style. Whether you want maximum power for steep tech climbs or a more natural feel on longer rides, you can dial it in how you like it.
Performance Update 2.0 is available for all CX Gen 5 and CX-R Gen 5 motors. It also brings Extended Boost (Bosch Overrun) and support for the new drivetrain tensioner system, which helps reduce lag when you get back on the pedals. Bosch are also adding more features and connectivity options, including Garmin integration and new power supply options.
One thing worth keeping in mind — more power means more stress on drivetrain components, so increased wear is expected over time. If you’re unsure about compatibility, servicing or upgrading components, get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimeters for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but is like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the e mountain bike column.
