The Trek Rail+ 9.7 Gen 5 is an enduro e-bike designed for riders who want a serious, carbon-framed machine that can deliver high-power support on the longest, toughest rides. With 160 mm of suspension front and rear, you’ve got the confidence and comfort to smash rough trails, while the full Bosch smart system provides the range and torque to keep the stoke going all day.
The heart of the Rail+ 9.7 is its OCLV Mountain Carbon main frame, which houses a Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery using Trek’s clean and practical Removable Integrated Battery (RIB 2.0) system. This not only keeps the lines sleek but also allows quick access for charging or removal without tools. The Bosch Performance Line CX motor punches out up to120Nm of torque—more than enough to take the grunt out of steep switchbacks and long climbs—letting you focus on the ride, not the grind.
RockShox takes care of the suspension with a ZEB Select fork and Super Deluxe Select+ RT rear shock, combining impressive stiffness, damping control and tuning capability for a smooth, responsive ride through chunky, rooty, and rocky terrain. The 160 mm of travel matches the enduro intentions of the Rail+, offering control and comfort on aggressive trails.
Drivetrain duties are handled by Shimano’s XT and SLX 12-speed components, providing crisp, reliable shifts and a broad gear range that pairs perfectly with the motor’s assist. Powerful SRAM DB8 brakes bring all the stopping power you need, with 4-piston calipers front and rear for added control.
The mixed-wheel setup—29" up front for rollover and stability, 27.5" out back for agility—gives you the best of both worlds. Bontrager Brevard Pro XR tyres offer grip and durability across a range of trail surfaces, while the Bontrager Line Comp 30 wheels are tubeless-ready and built to take the hits.

Bosch Performance Update 2.0
Bosch have dropped a fresh update for the Performance Line CX and CX-R motors, and it’s a big one for riders who want more punch on the trails. The update is available for the latest generation motors with the codes BDU384Y and BDU386Y, and it can be installed straight from the Bosch eBike Flow app. Nice and easy.
Once you’ve downloaded Performance Update 2.0, you can crank the motor up to a huge 120 Nm of torque, with up to 600% support and 750 watts of peak power. Bosch have also tweaked things so the motor can hold that power for longer when the riding conditions allow.
The 600% support figure only kicks in between 0 and 15 km/h, so it’s all about helping you power up steep climbs and tricky sections. The maximum assisted speed stays the same at 25 km/h.
As with previous Bosch updates, you can still customise the motor settings in the app to suit your riding style. Whether you want maximum power for steep tech climbs or a more natural feel on longer rides, you can dial it in how you like it.
Performance Update 2.0 is available for all CX Gen 5 and CX-R Gen 5 motors. It also brings Extended Boost (Bosch Overrun) and support for the new drivetrain tensioner system, which helps reduce lag when you get back on the pedals. Bosch are also adding more features and connectivity options, including Garmin integration and new power supply options.
