The Trek Supercaliber SLR 9.8 XT Di2 Gen 2 is built for cross-country riders who want the efficiency of a lightweight race bike with more control than a traditional hardtail. Its distinctive IsoStrut suspension system delivers 80mm of rear travel, while a 110mm Fox Factory fork adds extra capability for the rougher, more technical XC courses now common in racing.
At the heart of the bike is Trek's SLR OCLV Mountain Carbon frame. This high-modulus carbon lay-up is designed to reduce weight while maintaining the stiffness needed for hard acceleration and efficient climbing. Trek also removes some internal cable guide material to save further weight, keeping the frame focused firmly on race performance.
The Supercaliber's IsoStrut design replaces a conventional rear shock and linkage with a compact integrated suspension unit. A RockShox SIDLuxe shock sits within the top tube area and works with pivotless seat stays to deliver around 80mm of rear wheel travel. This keeps the suspension layout light and simple while still providing controlled damping and useful traction over roots, rocks and repeated trail chatter.
The pivotless seat stays are designed to flex as the suspension moves, helping reduce the number of pivots and hardware required. This contributes to the Supercaliber's low weight while also allowing the rear end to absorb smaller impacts without compromising pedalling efficiency.
Up front, the Fox Factory 34 SL provides 110mm of travel through a Float EVOL air spring and lightweight GRIP SL damper. The additional travel and slacker modern XC geometry give the bike a more composed feel on technical descents, while the two-position damper and remote lockout let you quickly firm up the suspension for hard climbing and sprinting efforts.
Shimano XT Di2 provides wireless 1x12-speed electronic shifting. The XT M8250 rear derailleur is paired with a wide-range 10-51T M8200 cassette, giving you plenty of low gearing for steep climbs while retaining the close, fast shifts needed when racing. The wireless system also reduces cockpit clutter and allows shifting behaviour to be customised.
An E*thirteen Helix Race carbon chainset with a 34T chainring keeps weight low and provides a suitably race-focused gear setup. A Shimano XT M8100 chain completes the 12-speed drivetrain.
Shimano XT M8200 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power. The four-piston design gives strong, controlled braking for modern XC courses, where steeper descents and technical features place greater demands on the brakes than traditional cross-country racing.
Bontrager Kovee Elite 30 carbon wheels keep rotating weight down while providing a wide platform for the 29x2.4in Maxxis Aspen tyres. The Aspen tread is designed to roll quickly while still offering useful grip on loose and varied race surfaces, and the tubeless-ready construction allows lower pressures for added traction and comfort.
A Bontrager RSL integrated carbon handlebar and stem further reduces weight and creates a clean, stiff cockpit. The build also includes a dropper post, giving you more room to move around the bike on steep or technical descents without compromising climbing position when the saddle is raised.
The Supercaliber SLR 9.8 XT Di2 Gen 2 sits between a hardtail and a conventional full-suspension XC bike. Its lightweight carbon frame, compact IsoStrut suspension, 110mm Fox fork and wireless XT Di2 drivetrain make it especially well suited to riders focused on XC racing, marathon events and fast technical trails where pedalling efficiency still matters as much as descending control.
