Yes. You need to lock the bike with Thatcham approved or Sold Secure lock to an immovable object, like a bike rack, as long as you don’t leave the bike for longer than 24 hours. The same applies to other spaces in which you leave your bike, like outside a shop. In these areas, though, the bike shouldn’t be left for more than 12 hours.
Depending on your specific household insurance, it may. But many household insurance policies only cover your bike while it’s safe inside your house. They often don’t cover if you leave you bike in a shed on your property, in your vehicle, or when you lock your bike when out for a ride.

Yes. The excess charge for Bikes, accessories of equipment is either £25 or 5% of the claim amount. Damage to 3rd Party Property is £300 and 3rd Party Injury is £500.
You would still be covered only if the bike was being ridden by a member of your family who permanently lives with you.
