Zipp 303 SW Wheels Review
Wider Rim
The 303 SW rim features a revised carbon layup which reduces weight and improves impact strength making them even more capable than previous editions. The new hookless rim and shape helps shield the tyre in an impact that would otherwise lead to a puncture.
The 40mm deep rim design takes inspiration from the gravel-specific 303 XPLR wheel utilising a 33mm external rim width and 25mm internal rim width. This allows you to run lower tyre pressures and improves aerodynamic efficiency with low drag from the rims profile.
Zipp AXS Wheel Sensor
The rim now incorporates the Zipp AXS wheel sensor allowing you to monitor and analyse your tyre pressure in real time without using an external device on the valve. Fine tune your pressures before and during your ride but also detect any punctures early.
The Wheel Sensor features the same compatibility as other AXS components, meaning connecting to other components is as easy as ever. Including being able to connect to bluetooth computers so you can see your tyre pressure on screen.
ZR1 Hub
At the centre of the Zipp 303 SW is the ZR1 hub. This hub is lightweight and features stainless steel bearings for improved durability and smoother rolling performance. It’s centre lock only, so can only be used with centre lock compatible rotors.
Tyre Compatibility
The 303 SW is a tubeless ready wheelset. Due to its hookless design, and to keep you safe, these wheels must be used with a Zipp approved tubeless tyre. However, the wheels can be used with an inner tube that has a threaded valve.
These wheels are optimised for 30mm to 44mm tyres, however for the best profile and performance a 35mm tyre is recommended. In terms of tyre pressures, the recommended maximum tyre pressure for the wheels is about 73psi/5bar.
Hub Compatibility
The 303 SW has both XDR or Shimano drive body options out of the box, with compatibility to fit SRAM/Shimano 10,11 & 12 Speed cassettes. However if you are after a Campagnolo driver body this is sold separately.
Lifetime Warranty
The Zipp 303 SW wheelset is incredibly light. Without tyres, rotors or cassette fitted, weighs in at 1420g.
