Product Description

Lightweight and strong, the HT Components ME03 EVO Magnesium Alloy Flat Pedals offer superb grip for riding challenging off-road trails. The magnesium alloy body weighs only 260g and is CNC machined for an ideal shape. The 20 pins deliver fantastic grip, and the super thin 11mm body gives better ground clearance. Dual DU bushings and sealed bushings offer superb reliability and smooth spinning.

Key Features:

  • Body material: Magnesium alloy CNC machined
  • Axle: Cro-mo Steel
  • Size: 102 x 96 x 11mm
  • Pedal bearings: Dual DU bushing +one patent sealed bearing
  • Pins: 20 replaceable grip pins
  • Weight: 260g

If you’re looking for one of the thinnest pedals on the market, then you’re in the right place. The HT ME03 EVO is just 11mm thick. This gives you plenty of clearance for rocks and other obstacles as you ride. Being thin, they’re also light at 260g.

The body material is Magnesium alloy which is much lighter than aluminium. Yet, just as strong and stiff. DH, freeride, trail riding - these are ideal flats.

A Cro-mo steel axle is tough to prevent bending and deflection. As the ME03 EVO flat pedals are so thin they’re also less likely to roll underfoot. There are a range of colour choice to suit different tastes and frame colours.

Expensive but cured pedal strike issues

These pedals are not only super light (260g per pair), and saved a lot of weight over the excellent Saint pedals (500g) they replaced so 240g saving, but are also very thin (11mm). The larger pedal surface area and pin configuration also means that they grip better to your flat shoes. The Saints are epic value, but these are a weight weenies dream. Twinned with shorter 170mm cranks I'm strike free at present. Early observations are that the finish isn't as resilient as the Saints so they will scuff up quicker, but pedals never look good for long. Accessories are cheap, pin set about a fiver and bearing / seal kit less than a tenner. Other than the lofty price tag I recommend!

Platform Pedals Guide

Platform Pedals Guide

Also known as flat pedals, designed for mountain bike and BMX riding. Platform pedals offer great foot support.

Pins

Pins grip the sole of your shoe to keep your foot in place while still giving you the freedom to take your foot off whenever you like. The pedal body is generally made of reinforced nylon or aluminium for greater durability.

DMR Pedals with replaceable pins

These are particularly good for control when you're riding off-road on tricky terrain. The main advantage of flat pedals is you aren't attached to your bike, so can get your foot down with ease.

Pins are replaceable on the higher-end models. Some higher-end pedals have features like grease ports and magnesium or titanium construction to save weight.

Shape & Size

They come in different shapes and sizes some with a more concave shape to suit rider preference.

  • Simple and effective
  • Easy to bail from the bike
  • Specific shoe not essential
  • Limited winter specific flat pedal shoes
  • Feet can be blown off on rough terrain
  • Thicker pedals can strike the ground on rough terrain
Two Crank Brothers pedals differ in shape and size

Axles

Steel or Titanium can be used for the axle with the latter being much lighter. Mid and High-range pedals run on sealed cartridge bearings with many seals for long-lasting performance.

Axle material can make a big impact on pedal weight
