Product Description

Keep your head warm on cold winter rides. The Madison Isoler Winter hat is made from merino wool for outstanding thermal insulation.

Unlike man-made fibres, Merino wool is a good insulator even when wet and is great at regulating your body temperature. You can pound the tarmac without getting too hot and sweaty.

Madison’s Isoler Winter Hat features a peaked brim to keep rain from trickling onto your face, and also shades your eyes from the sun. For those who run hot, a fold up rear panel lets you expose your ears if you heat up too much.

Key Features:

  • Shaped to work underneath a helmet with minimal seam irritation
  • Unlike man-made fibres, Merino wool retains its thermal properties when its wet to better regulate the bodies temperature
  • Peaked brim keeps the sun or rain away from your face
  • Fold up rear panel allows you to expose the ears if you begin to overheat
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Occasionally, without notice, manufacturers change product design and/or specifications.

Nothing Changes
by Anonymous user on 26/11/2019

In 2019 the plastic visor still pokes its unnecessarily sharp bits out of the hat on the 1st machine (Delicate @30C) wash. Moral is...hand wash only - pity it doesn't say that on the care label. Otherwise a comfortable and cosy hat that keeps the head warm. The L/XL size is not that big, so if you do have an outsize cranium it might not provide the coverage you are expecting.

Unhappy
by Christopher P on 18/04/2016

At first I was delighted with this under helmet cap, kept my head warm on the coldest of days. I have had it for a few months now, but noticed this morning that the plastic insert in the peak had cut a hole at the back of the peak, quite a sharp piece the plastic was sticking out on one side making this purchase a bad one. Can't be arsed with sending it back, shall start useing my old beanie.....S**T

Disappointing cap
by Colin A on 16/03/2016

Initially I found this cap to be comfortable and warm. I have worn it a few times and this morning I noticed that the plastic inside the peak of the cap had made a hole on the edge of the peak. I notice another reviewer has said the same thing. Why make the plastic so sharp where the material is quite thin? It seems like a fundamental design problem. Anyway I have now written to tredz asking them to either credit me or offer me an alternative cap.

Keeps the cold out in all weather
by Mark H on 07/02/2016

Bought this for cold winter night cycling to keep my head warm and my ears covered. Although not windproof, unless its howling a gale I don't need ear plugs in as well to stop the earache. Nice snug fit -does the job well.

Perfect insulation
by Christopher P on 31/01/2016

I bought this to keep my head warm for winter cycling. I am very pleased with my purchase, kept my head and ears warm without any moisture build up. After 30+ mils dry as a bone. Good result...

Loving this hat so far
by Jonathan G on 23/01/2016

This is a very comfy roomy cap. I can wear it under the helmet for a couple of hours without too much itching. The size (L/XL) is perfect for my large head, and doesn't feel tight at all. It comes down over the ears and around the face a little too, so is quite cosy. The peak is a touch narrow, just a small thing, and also I found the label was in my eyeline, and perhaps not that cool, so I unpicked it for the stealth look! About to wash it for the first time so wish me luck.

Maybe I got a duff one...
by Malcolm C on 11/01/2016

I wore this once to good effect - it is warm and comfortable, and fits well under a helmet. However, after one wash, the point at the edge of the plastic peak stuck out through the merino wool. I have returned it and asked for a refund as it seems to me like a design fault where a pointy plastic thing is expected not to pierce a soft woollen garment. So far, no response from Tredz although I am sure to get a response soon.

by Zak F on 10/12/2015

Just thought I'd write this review as when I bought this cap I couldn't find a size guide anywhere! I ended up going for the small/medium but had to return it for the large/ex large as it was just too small & didn't cover my ears My head measures 57cm Apart from that I'm very pleased Hope this helps someone!

Cycling Headwear Guide

What is cycling headwear?

Cycling headwear covers quite a range – caps, snoods, beanies and headbands to wear with your cycling helmet.

Who needs cycling headwear?

Cycling headwear is most useful for winter cyclists who need to keep their ears and scalp warm, but lightweight cotton caps will also keep summer roadies cool and guard against sunburn.

What are the choices?

In winter a headband or beanie will cover your ears and keep you warm. A snood can be drawn over your neck or face for even more coverage. Shade your eyes in summer with a cotton cap under your helmet – if it’s really hot you can even soak it in cold water before putting it on.

What should I buy with it?

A helmet – cycling headwear is designed to be work with your helmet, not to replace it.

Anything else?

It’s surprising how much your head warms up while riding, so make sure your headwear is breathable and wicking.
