Product Description

The Proviz Reflect 360 windproof cycling jacket takes on-road visibility to a new level. The whole cycling jacket is made from 100% reflective material for 360 degree visibility to be seen from every angle.

Multiple venting on the front, shoulder, back and under arm areas help to you regulate your body temperature to avoid overheating. Open the front zipped vents for ‘through-flow’ for cooling breathability. In cool weather simply zip the vents shut for a warmer ride.

Excellent reflectivity, not great for breathability.

Purchased this version as opposed to the pro version. For visibility, this is excellent, it lights up very will indeed and is probably one of the best jacket on the market from this perspective. My problem is I get extremely sweaty wearing it. My commute on my brompton is 10 minutes each way with 1 150m long hill in the middle. In the freezing conditions we have been having and with the jack slightly open, with the armpit vents open, I get to my destination with a sweaty back and damp arms. I dread to think what this will be like when the weather warms up. I now wear a sports top under the jacket as a means to wick some of the sweat away. I am advised the pro version of this jacket is made of a different material which reduces overheating, but since haven't tired it I can't compare. 2.5/5 for performance because it only does half of what I need it to. I am glad Tredz offer good prices, I'd have been very disappointed paying the full RRP.

Briiiiiiiiiight!

I don't normally leave reviews, but had to for this little peach of a jacket. I hate yellow high vis cycling stuff, and this is so much better, it looks pretty smart (not like wear to a evening ball smart) in the daytime but when a headlight hits it on a dark road it lights up as bright as a road sign does. Good value with a Tredz discount. Only downsides, doesn't pack down quite small enough to fit in a jersey pocket, and isn't as breathable as Goretex

Should have read the reviews!

The jacket is amazingly reflective - that's the main thing. For me it feels too heavy and therefore would probably end up being a bit sweaty. I can't really comment on this though or it's performance because it was too small and I sent it back! I should have read the reviews. I too am usually a medium but the jacket was really tight around my shoulders and a chest. Think Proviz (or Tredz) need to take a look at their sizing...

Excellent product, but mind the size

Being a 38in chest I ordered a medium, & had to return it for a Large. Tredz were excellent & I received my replacement jacket within 3 days - perfect customer service. The jacket is so reflective its untrue. When I use this for walking or cycling in the evenings I know I'll be much more visible than a normal hi-viz yellow jacket with reflective piping.. An excellent product at an excellent price.

Top Visibility, Waterproof, Great jacket

I had an Altura Night vision jacket before in a size M, but after trying on this jacket I went for a size L, Super bright in night, and very waterproof, it might bit a bit warmer than my old Jacket but this is not been an issue for me. Its really handy having the 2 front pockets. Totally recommend this Jacket!

Awesome jacket

This jacket has had the desired affect getting me seen , cars seem to be slowing down and pulling over further away which is great. It is also waterproof which is good given the current weather. The only downside I have found is that it is not breathable but the under arm zips help alot even when it is cold.

Superb visibility but hot

The jacket does its job extremely well. Motorists appear to notice me much quicker which has been the best thing about the purchase. It is well waterproofed, has handy adjustable wrist straps, with good quality zips on pockets and vents. Despite large underarm and back vents, I get hot and sweaty very quickly cycling in anything over 10degsC, as the covering is not breathable at all. In summary - invaluable on a cold, dark and wet cycle.

Mental bright

The reflectivity of this jacket is second to none, it seems to be waterproof and the technical detailing is well thought out. My only slight gripe is the fit is a little odd for cycle specific clothing, I find it rather tight across the shoulders & chest and a little short in the arm length, but at the same time it seems huge round the belly & waist area. I'm 6'2" and 80kg and went for a medium, if however I went for the large there would just be lots of flapping (wind catching) unnecessary material. This is the only reason why I marked it down on Performance, it's a great jacket but they need to work on a better fit.

Windproof Jackets Guide

Windproof Jackets Guide

When the mercury drops most people turn to putting to layering up to keep warm. However, when you’re cycling the last thing you want is to feel like the Michelin man, bound up, inflexible and uncomfortable. As you ride you’ll get warm very quickly, wearing all those layers will make you sweaty.

Why not choose a windproof cycling jacket instead? They’re ideal for cold dry winter days with most offering some type of light rain protection as well. Windproof jackets tend to be lighter than a waterproof model and are much more breathable.

You can also check out our waterproof cycling jacket guide if you’re planning to ride in the rain. By the end of our windproof cycling guide, you should have all the info you need to buy the right jacket.

Types of Windproof Jacket

Packable Windproof Jacket
| Spring & Autumn

For cool rather than cold rides, a packable windproof jacket may be all you need to keep the chill off. These jackets are very lightweight and are usually made of a single layer of fabric. They’re only a simple barrier between your skin and the elements.

However, these jackets usually have good breathability to stop you from feeling clammy on the inside. Even if it rains, a packable will dry quickly. Most can be rolled up into a small package and will fit in a spare jersey pocket.

Lightweight windproof jacket

Softshell Windproof Jacket
| Spring, Autumn & Winter

Softshell windproof jackets have been gaining popularity for a few years now. They’re heavier than a packable to block more wind and are smooth against your skin for a comfortable feel.

Softshell jackets can be worn over a base layer or a jersey on colder rides without the need for multiple layers to keep you warm. Many are treated with water resistance for light rain protection making them a practical jacket for a wide range of UK riding conditions. You can also pair a softshell with a lightweight packable waterproof jacket for maximum protection.

Fabric

The fabric is key to performance. Generally, the more you spend on a jacket the lighter and thinner the fabric will be. Breathability will improve as well, letting your sweat evaporate quickly.

Gore Windstopper is popular fabric laminating a lightweight membrane to the fabric. It’s designed to keep the wind out and will also help shed light rain too.

Other systems will include an inner lining, middle windproof membrane and then the outer layer, usually treated with DWR water repellency. This design keeps the wind out while staying breathable.

We’ve put together a technical fabric guide for clothing detailing the key fabrics from some of the biggest brands in the industry.

Fit

Windproof jackets come in many styles, so choose the type best suited to your riding. If you plan on training or racing, then a tighter fit with minimal excess fabric will help prevent drag as you ride.

If you’re commuting or riding off-road then a loose cut with more freedom of movement is a good option.

Cycle Specific Features

Extended drop tail:

Keeps your lower back protected from the elements

Raise waist:

Stops excess fabric bunching up and causing discomfort

Pre-shaped (articulated) arms:

For greater comfort when in a cycling position

Longer arms:

To ensure full coverage when cycling

Waist gripper:

Prevents the jacket from riding up

Velcro cuffs:

Offer a tighter fit to eliminate cooling breeze

High neck:

Provides more coverage

Rear pockets:

For stashing ride essentials, a security chest pocket is also a good feature

Full-length zip:

With a good puller for easy use with thick gloves on and a zip garage to stop chafing
