Brompton’s 12-speed drivetrain gives you the gear range of – and sometimes even more than – a regular road or hybrid bike. This unique system is more compact than on a regular bike, so you still get the lightweight, portability you expect from a Brompton folding bike.
A Combined System
The unique Brompton 12-speed system combines a 4-speed derailleur with a 3-speed hub to give you 12 gear options to cover all terrain. The Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hub is weather-sealed and virtually indestructible. The whole system is lightweight too with the 4-speed derailleur - originally designed for the ultralight titanium T Line bikes - weighing just 60 grams.
Intuitive Gear Changes
This wide range 12-speed system is easy to use. The 4-speed derailleur takes care of your primary gear changes, the ones you use as you accelerate or regulate your speed in traffic. Then you have the 3-speed hub which multiplies the 4 derailleur speeds up to 12. The hub gears do the same job that a front derailleur would on regular bike, so it feels intuitive from the first pedal strokes.
P Line Explore
With its titanium rear end, lightweight fork and next level components the P Line is Brompton’s smoother rolling, easier to carry folding bike. The P-Line Explore 12-speed models combine this with the extra gearing you need to tackle the hills more easily and take your adventures further.
Electric C Line Explore
The Electric C Line is based around Bromptons original all-steel frame, but with a powerful 250w motor to boost your natural pedalling power. With the Explore 12-speed bikes you can use this power to greater effect and take on the steepest hills with less effort.
Electric P Line Explore
Lighter and more compact than any other folding e-bike the Brompton Electric P Line weighs under 16Kg. It offers a smoother ride and is easier to carry than the Electric C Line while offering the same powerful pedal assistance. The Electric P Line Explore is now available with 12-speed gearing, so you can fly up even the steepest of hills.
