Overview
The brand-new Treadwell from Cannondale looks to be the perfect fun and fitness bike to rekindle your joy of cycling. There are some clever and innovative additions to this seemingly basic bike. Simplicity and ease of use are the highlights here, Cannondale has created a light and nimble bike that is sure to get you smiling as you tick off the miles.
All models of the Treadwell have an integrated wheel sensor that helps track your speed, distance and calories burned, it can even remind you when a service is needed and connects through the new Cannondale app. There is even a mount for your phone on the stem, compatible with SP mounts and cases.
All models have the same SmartForm C3 alloy frame, Cannondale has a long heritage of building high quality and compliant aluminium frames and they bring this expertise with them into the Tredwell. Hidden cable routing and Urban Armour frame protection keep the bike sleek and looking good for long life.
There are 3 models in the range each available in a standard and low toptube (Remixte) version, the entry level Treadwell 3 has comfortable steel forks, while both other models have SmartForm C3 Alloy forks to create a lighter package. All bikes feature rack and mudguard mounts with a comfortable fitness geometry, not too sporty to become uncomfortable, but not too relaxed that you feel slow, a great compromise for your fitness goals.

Simple, reliable and easy to use. All bikes utilise a 1x drive train with just the one cog up front keeping weight and maintenance down. With fewer components to adjust or go wrong, all gearing is handled by the 7 or 9-speed wide-range cassette on the rear. This allows a guard to be fitted around the 38 tooth chainring keeping the oil from your trousers while still giving an adequate gear range for most locations and situations.
Finishing kit is made up of a comfortable saddle, BMX inspired riser bars with comfort pedals and grips. The EQ model is fully equipped with full-length mudguards and large front rack, although all models have the ability for these parts to be added.
Most bikes of this type traditionally had large sized 700c wheels, the same a drop handlebar road bikes, though this usually means only a thin tyre can be fitted, that must be inflated quite hard to avoid punctures. Cannondale has fitted a small 650b wheel to the Treadwell, this allows a much bigger and more comfortable tyre to be fitted. Tyres are from Maxxis, well known in the mountain bike world for making some of the best tyres available, so you know the most important contact patch is more than up to the job.
The wheel itself is a double wall construction to create a strong but light wheelset, rolling on hubs with sealed bearings to give hundreds of miles of smooth rolling riding strong enough for all terrain.
