The Cannondale Habit is a short travel, 650b full suspension trail bike. Combining the light weight of a cross-country bike with the capabilities of a longer travel enduro bike, the Cannondale Habit is designed to offer a super fun ride on the trails you ride week in week out. Featuring high-quality, lightweight carbon fibre and aluminium alloy frames, all the Habit bikes are rapid climbers and confident descenders.

A perfect all-rounder for UK conditions, each bike in the Cannondale Habit range features modern trail geometry with trail ready components, like a one-by drivetrain and wide handlebars. The Cannondale Habit is playful and fun with enough modern trail ready features to allow you to ride it anywhere you want to.

Carbon and aluminium options

There are five unisex and two women’s specific models in the Cannondale Habit range. The Habit SE, the Habit Carbon 3 and the Habit Women’s Carbon 2 all have a front triangle made from Cannondale’s BallisTec carbon fibre composite. BallisTec carbon features technology from bullet proof vests, so it is incredibly tough as well as being stiff and lightweight for a really lively ride.

The other three unisex Habit models and the Habit Women’s 3 use Cannondale's aluminium throughout. Cannondale are the masters of aluminium and their alloy models also offer a super lightweight and super responsive ride. Each Habit features a really cool forged carbon rocker link connected to the aluminium alloy swing arm.

The Habit rides every bit as sharp as it looks, and reacts to rider inputs faster than the blink of an eye

120mm rear travel to smooth the trail

A lightweight, go-faster, trouble-maker for the DH rider wanting to climb, XC rider wanting to descend and enduro rider wanting something lighter to play on
Bike Radar

Offering balanced suspension performance on both the uphills and the downhills, the unisex Habit 6 & 5 and the Habit Women’s models feature 120mm suspension travel front and rear. The alloy framed models feature the plush new RockShox Judy fork, while the Carbon models get the legendary RockShox Pike fork. The Pike has been redesigned for 2018 to shed some weight without losing any performance.

The Habit 4 and all the Habit Carbon models also have 120mm of rear wheel travel but get a slightly longer travel 130mm RockShox fork, for a little extra descending capability. The alloy models feature a RockShox Monarch RT rear shock while the carbon bikes get the super-smooth performance of the Fox Float DPS shock, with three position compression damping adjustment so you can adapt the bikes performance to the trail ahead.

Cannondale Habit drivetrain

1x drivetrain on all models

The 60mm stem perfectly complements the generous frame proportions on the size large bike, and the 760mm handlebar boosts confidence and control further

The Cannondale Habit’s playful nature is enhanced with a trail ready cockpit that features wider bars and a shorter stem for more confident control at speed. The Habit Women’s Carbon 2, along with the top three unisex Habit's, get an internally routed dropper post. This means you can climb efficiently and still have maximum control on the descents without needing to stop and fiddle with your saddle height.

It is great to see that every Habit now features a one-by drivetrain with a clutch mech. This means that you get hassle free gear shifting and a quiet ride, even over the roughest trail sections. A wide range 11-42t cassette on the base model gives you plenty of gear options for all the ups and downs on your route. You get an 11-46t cassette on most of the range, for a little extra climbing ability, with the massive 500% gear range of the 10-50t SRAM Eagle cassette on the Habit SE. The hydraulic disc brakes on all models have large 180mm rotors up front, so you get plenty of stopping power on every bike.

Cannondale Habit Wheels

Wide rims and quality tyres

All the Habit models roll on 650b (27.5”) wheels with nice wide rims. The 650b wheels are more playful than the 29” wheels you get on many short travel full sus trail bikes, while the wide rims give you plenty of tyre support when you are shredding those turns.

The Women’s Habits and the first four unisex models feature WTB i23 tubeless ready rims with tubeless ready Schwalbe tyres. This means you can set the bike up tubeless straight out of the box, for a better trail riding experience. The top end Habit SE features even wider WTB i29 rims with a grippy Maxxis Minion tyre on the front and a fast rolling Maxxis Ardent on the rear. Both these limited edition tyres feature distinctive tan side walls.

Wide rims offer improved tyre support for more confident cornering

Cannondale Habit

Best for

A super versatile and fun trail bike

The aluminium alloy Cannondale Habit models will make a perfect first trail bike, 120mm of suspension travel is just the right amount to get you started on your local trails, as well as MTB adventures further afield. Cannondale aluminium is famously lightweight so you won’t be lugging around a really heavy bike. The Habit's are super upgradable should you wish to beef up the bike and move towards more enduro-style riding.

The two carbon models, the Habit 2 and the Habit SE are ideal for someone who wants to get the most performance they can out of a shorter travel bike. The Cannondale Habit is a great bike for someone who is moving from a long travel bike and wants something a bit more fun and playful, as well as someone who has had a shorter travel cross-country bike, or hardtail and wants something a bit more capable. The Habit is a really versatile bike that will be fun to ride everywhere, from your local XC tracks to a full-on trail mission.
