Merida Reacto Range Review
Aero at its core
The Reacto range simplifies aerodynamics to deliver a bike that is fast, lightweight and comfortable. Features like aerodynamic tube profiling, additional tyre clearance to incorporate wider tyres, and a much neater cockpit cable management system, all ensure the Reacto cuts through the wind efficiently whilst offering a comfortable ride.
CF Frameset
The Reacto frame features a Naca Fastback profile, a special kind of tubing shape helps reduce aerodynamic drag and weight for a fast and efficient ride. The bikes in the Reacto range feature two different frames with slightly different carbon lay ups; the CF5 frame which is lightweight and great for high level performance. And the slightly heavier, more budget friendly CF3 frame. Both frame types include the same racing geometry and aerodynamic tubing and are built from Nano Matrix Carbon which allows for a stronger and lighter composite frame, resulting in a faster and tougher bike.
A Reacto for every budget
Built for speed, the Merida Reacto is best for riders who love fast paced cycling. At the top of the range, the Reacto 9000 offers pro level performance for pure racers featuring a CF5 carbon frame equipped with Shimano’s Ultegra Di2 electronic groupset and integrated Vision Metron handlebars. At the lower end of the range, the Reacto 4000 features a slightly heavier CF3 carbon frame equipped with Shimano’s 105 mechanical groupset, but still includes the same racing geometry, wider tyres, and cable management system as the 9000 model.
Frame details
The Reacto gets thru axles to cope with higher braking forces and every bike in the range features a full carbon fork with a tapered steerer and improved aerodynamics. The frame is also fitted with a Disc Cooler which is an aluminium piece that sits between the brake caliper and frame to draw heat away from the braking system for improved control and performance.
Additional Compliance
A unique feature on the Reacto is the S-Flex seatpost which improves comfort without effecting speed or efficiency. The layup of the carbon seatpost leaves a notch at the top that is filled with silicone rubber. This allows the saddle to move a little vertically and does a great job of smoothing out rough road surfaces and vibrations.
Internal Cable Routing
On each Reacto the gear, brake cables, and hoses are routed through the frame. The cables enter and exit the frame through smooth sockets, and Wire Port system. The Wire Port system allows the cables to enter the frame through specifically shaped headset cap to clean up the cockpit area. Running the cables inside the frame protects them from the elements, gives a clean and neat look and offers aerodynamic advantages.
Every Second Counts
Merida focus on the smallest of details which can make the difference between winning and losing. Using an internal seat post clamp that secures the seatpost with a wedge inside the frame minimises the turbulence and potential drag, adding to the frame's aerodynamic advantage for a fast and efficient ride. Standout Model
Here we feature the Merida Reacto Limited, which is equipped with Shimano’s 11-speed 105 groupset and hydraulic disc brakes. With a compact 52-36 chainset and 11-30T cassette, riders will have the gear range for climbing efficiency and flat out power. The Reacto comes with Merida’s Mini Multi tool which stores underneath the saddle via the Merida tool box v-mount. This ensures that you never leave the house without a multi tool.
Merida Team SL45 Wheels
The Reacto Limited features a Merida Team SL45 carbon wheelset, which include a 45mm rim depth for an aero advantage and fast rolling speeds. This aerodynamic wheelset can accommodate a wider tyre to offer riders lower rolling resistance and additional grip.
