Being a Welsh native, I spend roughly half the year sliding around in the mud on my local trails. The lack of traction can be disconcerting at first but once you embrace the drift you’ll find that riding in the mud is more fun than riding dry trails. It’s also great for developing your skills. You’ll be riding with more confidence on dry summer trails if you’ve been honing your skills in the mud all winter.

With some careful kit equipment choices there are very few limits on the trails you can ride on an e-MTB, even in the very worst conditions. The extra power on tap means you don’t have to worry about draggy tyres slowing you down on the climbs. You’re free to choose the best tyres for the slippery descents.
Essential Kit For Muddy E-Biking
Front Mudguard
A front mudguard keeps mud and water from spraying up onto your face so you can see where you're going whatever the weather. Bolt on mudguards are best – if you have compatible threaded holes in the fork arch – but the zip tie versions work just as well.
Mud tyres
The open tread pattern and tall knobs of mud tyres like the Schwalbe Shredda give loads of grip when the trails turn muddy. On an e-bike you don’t have to worry so much about rolling resistance so you’re free to choose the stickiest rubber compounds like T9.
MTB Trousers
Trousers are great for riding in muddy conditions as they save your pads and legs from getting dirty. Trousers like the MT500 Sprays are idea as they keep your bum dry but are very breathable so you don’t overheat.
